Description
Jirou Oriza serves as a core member of the Tobita Club and the team's second recruited Gear Fighter. He sports brown eyes and red hair with a spiky fringe parted centrally, typically outfitted in a dark baseball jersey, orange undershirt, khaki shorts, and green sneakers. Earlier depictions show him in a white baseball uniform and navy blue cap.
Before joining the Tobita Club, Jirou resided in America, pitching for a junior Little League team alongside Hiromi Taki. A critical match shoulder injury caused his team's defeat, prompting his baseball retirement. Later, during a camping trip, Alex Borg saved him from a bear attack by deploying a Crush Gear, introducing Jirou to Gear Fighting. Borg gifted him the Crush Gear Raging Bull, sparking his passion for the sport. Jirou subsequently relocated to Japan.
His debut occurred at the Manganji Club's opening ceremony, where he witnessed Kouya Marino battle Takeshi Manganji. Jirou rescued Kouya from falling off the Manganji building after Kouya attempted to catch his Gear, Garuda Eagle. Kouya later invited Jirou to join the Tobita Club, but Jirou initially refused due to Kouya's poorly written letter and attitude. After challenging Kouya to a Gear Fight at the Tobita Clubhouse and winning, Jirou joined the club, becoming Kouya's closest ally.
Confident and skilled, Jirou integrates baseball techniques into his Gear Fighting, earning teammates' respect through his friendly demeanor. He harbors affection for the club's deputy owner, Lilika, visibly flustered in her presence. His Gear, Raging Bull (later upgraded to Raging Bullet), executes the Hurricane Crush special attack.
Preparing for the Manganji Cup, Momita tripped Jirou, re-injuring his shoulder and recalling his baseball trauma. In the Buthokan Cup finals, he reunited with Taki; Jirou lost the first match but drew the second when both Gears exited the ring. During the Asia Cup finals, Rai Shinomiya defeated him using an unexpected spin-style tactic. After hearing Brad Fincher insult Taki at a victory party, Jirou challenged Brad, but Raging Bull overheated, ending the match.
At the World Cup, Jirou defeated Brad by executing Taki’s Spin Trick Screw (Spinning Chain Stroke). In the tournament’s third stage, preparing to face U-YA, he devised a counter against the Shining Sword Breaker technique through a practice match with Kouya, concluding in a draw.
