TV-Series
Description
Kinue Jinguji is a third-year student at the prestigious Raiou Girls Academy, where she serves as the president of the golf club. Her role is defined by a serious dedication to the sport, but her journey takes a tragic turn when she suffers a serious injury to her left elbow, a condition known as golfer's elbow, brought on by excessive training. This injury sidelines her from active competition, forcing her to step back from the game she loves.
In terms of personality, Kinue is the picture of calm and steadiness, embodying grace under pressure. Unlike emotionally driven players, she remains stoic and unbothered in her duties as the team leader, rarely showing her true feelings in front of her teammates, especially while she rehabs her injury. However, this composed exterior masks a fierce inner drive. Known by herself and others as a hard worker, she practiced relentlessly to earn the recognition of her coach, Reiya Amuro. With younger club members, she can even show a strict, slightly demanding side, pushing them hard in both her words and training methods. Despite her outward seriousness, she does possess a subtle sense of humor, once showing a playful side by warning a fellow student away from romantic thoughts about their coach.
Kinue's primary motivation becomes self-sacrifice for the good of the team. After her injury, she is forced to abandon her own ambitions of an elite golfing career. The arrival of the prodigy Eve proves to be a turning point. Seeing Eve as a "diamond in the rough," Kinue decides to sacrifice her remaining future in golf to mold the younger player into a champion. Her goal is to help Eve and Aoi Amawashi reach the level needed to win the All-Japan Girls High School Doubles Championship.
Within the story of the series, Kinue acts as a crucial supporting figure and mentor. Though she can no longer play, she uses her experience to guide and test the abilities of the newer students. For instance, she proposes a match between Eve and another student to assess their skills. Even her tough coaching methods serve a purpose, as she puts Eve through rigorous drills to push her beyond her limits, hoping to transfer her own fighting spirit to the rising star. Coach Amuro continues to rely on her leadership, insisting she remains as team president because the team still needs her, even as a non-playing member.
Her key relationships deeply define her arc. Her bond with Coach Reiya Amuro is significant; he is the only person who has seen her truly emotional, particularly when she revealed her plan to give up her golfing future. Her relationship with Eve is one of a mentor passing the torch, as she invests all her remaining hopes in the younger golfer's success. Her dynamic with underclassmen is often that of a stern but respected leader.
Kinue's development moves from that of a promising athlete to a wounded leader and ultimately to a selfless strategist. She accepts her own physical limitations and redefines her purpose, finding meaning not in her own victories but in the success she can help others achieve. Her notable abilities, prior to her injury, were a product of tremendous hard work and dedication to training. While her playing days are over, her greatest strengths become her tactical mind, her steely resolve, and her ability to inspire discipline in others, making her an indispensable asset to the golf club from the sidelines.
