Description
Kaoruko Iijima is a third-year student who serves as the captain of the girls' golf club at Kouran High School in Shizuoka. Demonstrating a high level of talent, she secured sixth place in the National Women's Golf Tournament the previous year. Kaoruko has purple eyes and black, chest-length hair.

Kaoruko's personality is characterized by a strong will and determination. She is a serious and focused individual, driven by a desire to prove herself, particularly to her former coach. While direct personal motivations are central to her character, she carries a significant grudge against Coach Reiya Amuro, who previously coached her in middle school. His departure from her side and his criticism of her reliance on a special ability left a deep impression, fueling her resolve to defeat his new protégés to demonstrate the validity of her own golfing methods.

In the narrative, Kaoruko is a rival character who becomes a formidable obstacle for the protagonists, Eve and Aoi. At the request of Reiya Amuro, she teams up with her underclassman, Kuyou Iseshiba, to face off against Eve and Aoi in the semifinals of a major doubles tournament. She and Kuyou have a reliable partnership, with Kuyou providing steady support that complements Kaoruko's skills. Her primary relationship with Coach Amuro is antagonistic, as she seeks to get revenge for his perceived abandonment and prove his warnings wrong. Her connection to Eve is one of competitive respect, as Eve recognizes her talent and engages her as a worthy opponent.

Kaoruko's development is closely tied to her golfing abilities and the consequences of using them. The character experiences a trajectory where her greatest strength becomes a potential liability. According to her former coach, her intense focus and reliance on a skill called "In the Zone" creates an imbalance in her game, causing her accuracy to falter if she overuses it. Despite this warning, Kaoruko pushes herself to make use of an even more advanced version called "In The Zone: Deep" to secure an advantage in her matches. This overexertion leads to a momentary collapse in her performance at a critical moment, just as Amuro predicted, forcing her partner to compensate. This represents her learning curve, where her ambition clashes with the physical limitations of her own power.

Kaoruko's most notable ability is her extraordinary concentration, which allows her to enter a heightened state known as "In the Zone". When activated, she can intentionally restrict her five senses to execute approach shots of exceptional precision, a visualization often represented by an orange filter and a path of flowers. This ability, which she began honing in middle school, is the cornerstone of her golfing identity, which she fiercely defends against her former coach's criticism.
