Description
Piripappa is a supporting character in the anime film Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom who serves as the Right Minister in the court of King Rastaban III. He is an adult man holding one of the highest political offices in the kingdom and the leader of the court faction that insists on starting a war with the neighboring kingdom.
His background is one of humble origins. Ten years before the main events of the story, Piripappa was the son of a small massage shop owner in a corner of the bazaar. When King Rastaban III collapsed during an inspection of the city, he was carried to that massage shop, and from this encounter came the long-standing connection between Piripappa and the king. He later rose to the position of Right Minister.
In personality and manner, Piripappa is a calculating and confrontational political figure. He prefers military solutions to the tensions between the two kingdoms and works through his influence over the king rather than through open action. In the course of the story, he incites King Rastaban III to suspect the princess faction within the palace and to plot the killing of Naranbayar, the bridegroom sent from the neighboring kingdom as part of the peace arrangement. This scheme creates a serious crisis and places him in direct opposition to the characters who work to preserve the peace.
His primary motivation is war: he leads the royal party that insists on fighting the neighboring kingdom, and his actions are aimed at dismantling the arrangement that keeps the two countries from conflict. His most important relationship is with King Rastaban III, whose trust he holds and whose decisions he steers. He also stands against the Left Minister, who supports Naranbayar and the plan to build a great waterway connecting the two kingdoms, and against Princess Saara and Naranbayar, whom his policies threaten.
Piripappa's war policy ultimately fails. Naranbayar survives the attempt on his life, confronts the king together with Princess Saara, and persuades King Rastaban III to open diplomatic relations with the neighboring kingdom and begin a waterway project lasting decades. The king accepts this peaceful course, and the war agenda that Piripappa championed is abandoned.
Piripappa shows no combat or supernatural abilities. His notable abilities are political in nature: he is a persuasive and manipulative court official who can influence the king's judgment and rally a faction around his own views, making him a significant obstacle to the peace party even though his plans are ultimately defeated.
