Description
Masanori Iseki is a character who first appears in Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress and continues as a supporting figure in Cardfight!! Vanguard will+Dress. He is a tall man with a shaved head who is never seen without his rounded sunglasses. He typically wears a black suit with a pink undershirt and a pink-and-black tie. Masanori is a Buddhist monk and a skilled cardfighter. His personality is highly eccentric and theatrical. He enjoys making grand, flashy introductions and frequently exaggerates his stories. His over-the-top antics often irritate those around him, but he maintains his flamboyant demeanor even when others are upset.
Initially, Masanori appears to be a sidekick to Tohya Ebata, but it is later revealed that he is actually a member of Team Daybreak, serving as an advisor to Mirei Minae. In this role, he helps orchestrate the forced dissolution of other cardfighting teams to expand Daybreak’s influence. His motivations are tied to his loyalty to Daybreak and his belief in its methods. Over the course of the story, his true allegiance and manipulative nature become clear, transitioning him from a seemingly harmless eccentric to a key antagonist.
In battle, Masanori uses the Zorga Masques deck. One of his notable confrontations occurs when he finally accepts Tohya’s challenge, resulting in a decisive fight on Mount Yama. His development includes a shift from a background figure to a more active antagonist, and he later takes on a main role in the subsequent series Cardfight!! Vanguard Divinez. Throughout will+Dress, his relationships with Tohya Ebata and Mirei Minae are central to his role in the plot.
