Description
Dragon, also known as the Dragon of Despair, is a formidable antagonist and a high-ranking member of the White-Clad, serving as the commander of an elite group known as the Destroyers. His past is rooted in the desolation that followed the Great Cataclysm, after which he appeared in Iraq. As a boy, his path of mindless destruction led people to view him as a walking disaster, bestowing upon him the nickname Dragon. For years, he wandered with no purpose, destroying whatever he chose in a futile attempt to alleviate his profound boredom and misery. This despair changed when he encountered Faerie, a young boy Dragon regarded as an insect. Faerie promised that in two hundred years, they would be able to lay waste to the entire world. This promise gave Dragon, for the first time, a distant goal to pursue, leading him to follow Faerie, though his underlying despair never fully left him.

Dragon's personality is defined by a deep-seated boredom and a nihilistic view that makes hope or optimism feel worthless in the face of his overwhelming power. He does not find pleasure in causing despair but rather discards such feelings, leading to an endless cycle of tedium that only a true challenge can break. He is extremely confident in his abilities as a killer, claiming all who stand in his way will fall, yet he is not without a twisted sense of honor. He relishes a good fight, sometimes advising his enemies on how to fight him or complimenting their abilities during battle. He encouraged Arthur Boyle's knightly delusions specifically to see if the boy could provide a suitable challenge. Once he finally finds someone capable of hurting him, his reaction is not anger but gleeful anticipation of a real fight.

In the story, Dragon acts as a monumental obstacle for the protagonists, particularly for Arthur Boyle, whom he views as a perfect rival. In his first major confrontation with Company 8, he easily withstood attacks from Arthur, shattered the Excalibur, and overpowered the rest of the company until Benimaru Shinmon intervened. Benimaru himself, considered the strongest fighter in the Special Fire Force, expressed uncertainty about defeating the White-Clad with Dragon present, calling him a monster. Dragon's primary relationship is this intense rivalry with Arthur, spanning multiple battles. In their second encounter, Arthur had grown strong enough to fight on equal footing, but their duel was interrupted by the onset of the Great Cataclysm. Their final confrontation is the culmination of Dragon's search for meaning, where he once again overwhelms Arthur until Arthur risks everything on a single, desperate strike that cuts Dragon in half. In his dying moments, Dragon finally acknowledges Arthur's strength and growth, showing him respect and gratitude before passing away peacefully, having found the resolution to his despair.

Dragon possesses several notable abilities that make him one of the most powerful characters. He is a third-generation pyrokinetic who can breathe fire from his mouth like a real dragon, controlling the intensity from small explosive jets to massive, devastating explosions. His unique and most fearsome power is the ability to voluntarily undergo Infernalization, transforming his body into a state resembling a Demon Infernal. This process, which he calls the Dragon Coordinate when applied to his whole body, grants him an armored hide of dragon scales, sharp claws, and even wings that allow him to fly by projecting fire from them. This transformation provides him with overwhelming offensive and defensive capabilities. Furthermore, he possesses a passive ability called Draconic Pressure, in which the scales covering his body can act as a defense that automatically damages attackers, or even separate to be fired as projectiles without him needing to move. His durability and resilience are so immense that he could survive attacks that would destroy legendary weapons and even withstand being blasted into the vacuum of space, returning to Earth unharmed to continue fighting.
