Maria Isshiki reports for Tokyo File magazine, published by Kunito Publishing House. She first approaches Inspector Zenigata for an interview outside a museum. During this encounter, she involuntarily experiences precise precognitive visions, foreseeing Lupin III tripping Zenigata and Zenigata later being shoved against a train door—events that unfold exactly as predicted. Her mother died shortly after her birth, leaving her father as her only family. After a severe childhood illness, her father—a genetic engineering researcher—performed life-saving surgery that altered her DNA, granting these involuntary abilities. She witnessed her father’s murder but cannot recall the killer’s face, suffering recurring nightmares about it. While investigating Zenigata, she unknowingly works under Fujiko Mine, who poses as her chief editor. Maria joins Zenigata’s off-the-books investigation after his suspension over a failed operation involving billionaire Michael Suzuki. She learns Suzuki collaborated with her father before murdering him to steal his genetic engineering research, aiming to create super-soldiers. Suzuki specifically targets Maria for her modified DNA, planning to harvest her egg cells to enhance his experiments. Her partnership with Zenigata deepens when she rescues him from falling off a highway—a scene she foresaw—and later cares for him during a drunken episode where he voices suspicions about Suzuki. Zenigata develops romantic feelings, but Maria views him as a father figure due to his resemblance to her late father. She candidly admits this, which Zenigata acknowledges as another unrequited romance. Kidnapped by Suzuki during their confrontation, Maria discovers his full plans for her DNA. Zenigata and Lupin rescue her, and she later confronts Suzuki with an unloaded gun during his arrest. She maintains a connection with Zenigata afterward, keeping a photograph of them together at her bedside. Her precognition continues aiding their efforts, such as foreseeing Lupin and Fujiko’s elevator ambush, enabling her and Zenigata to intervene. Maria has violet hair, cyan eyes, and a distinctive 1990s aesthetic, including a Tamagotchi attached to her backpack. In a car chase, she enthusiastically participates after displaying a "new driver" sticker on her vehicle.
