Description
Lorraine Vivie is a genius scholar and a silver-ranked mage who specializes in the study of monsters and magic in the world of The Unwanted Undead Adventurer. Originally from a distant empire, she grew tired of imperial life and relocated to the city of Maalt, where she pursues her research independently. From a young age, she was hailed as a prodigy and achieved the title of Great Professor, sometimes referred to as Doctor, at just fourteen years old. She holds an adventurer license at the silver rank, which places her at a mid-level position within the guild hierarchy. In appearance, she is a young woman with light blonde hair that reaches her waist and yellow eyes, and she typically wears a dress that exposes her shoulders and the upper part of her chest.

Her personality is defined by sharp intellect, analytical thinking, and a deep curiosity about the world around her. She approaches problems with a logical and methodical mindset, often seeking to understand the underlying principles of the phenomena she studies. Despite her brilliance, she possesses an eccentric and somewhat messy lifestyle, preferring to immerse herself in her research without much regard for order in her living space. She is also compassionate and fiercely loyal to those she cares about, willing to go to great lengths to protect her friends and allies. Her primary motivation is the pursuit of knowledge, particularly in the areas of monster biology and ancient lore, and she has a strong desire to use that knowledge to help others.

In the story, Lorraine plays a critical role as the first person Rentt Faina turns to after he is resurrected as an undead creature. When he returns from the Labyrinth of the Moonlit Waters in the form of a ghoul, he confides in her about his condition, and she immediately agrees to help him understand and manage his transformation. She provides him with a mask and magical items that allow him to pass as human in society, and she uses her expertise to guide him through the process of existential evolution. Her knowledge of monsters and magic proves invaluable to Rentt, as she acts as his intellectual partner and strategist, often supplying the theoretical foundation for his next steps. She also allows him to live with her before and after his transformation, and in return, he handles the cleaning and cooking for her.

Her relationship with Rentt Faina is the most significant in her life. They have known each other for about a decade, and their bond is built on mutual trust and deep friendship. Lorraine views Rentt as her closest confidante, and she treats his undead state both as a fascinating research subject and as a personal priority worthy of her full attention and protection. She is also one of the few people who knows his true identity after his transformation, and she risks her reputation and safety to help him hide the truth from the Adventurers Guild and the church. Outside of her relationship with Rentt, she maintains a more distant connection with other characters such as Rina Rupaage and the guild staff, but she is a respected figure within the Maalt community due to her scholarly achievements and magical power.

Over the course of the story, Lorraine experiences notable personal development. She begins as a reclusive researcher who is content to work alone in her study, but she gradually becomes an active participant in Rentt secret life and adventures. She transitions from a passive source of knowledge to someone who is willing to put herself in danger, confront powerful enemies, and make difficult decisions to protect her friend. Her willingness to engage with the dangers of the world reflects her growth from a purely academic figure into a more proactive and courageous ally. She also learns to balance her logical nature with the emotional weight of her choices, particularly as she witnesses Rentt struggle with his humanity.

In terms of abilities, Lorraine is a highly skilled and powerful mage, having earned the rank of silver-class adventurer through her combat capability and magical proficiency. Her expertise lies primarily in monster research, magic theory, and ancient lore, which she uses to develop strategies and countermeasures against various creatures and magical threats. She is a brilliant strategist who can quickly analyze a situation and formulate a plan, and her knowledge of the undead is especially relevant to Rentt journey. She is also a capable combatant in her own right, able to hold her own against dangerous monsters and hostile forces. Her deep understanding of magical systems allows her to craft customized spells, enchantments, and items that aid Rentt in his evolution and survival.
