Description
Miledi Reisen is a character from the world of Tortus who belongs to an ancient era known as the Age of the Gods. She is an Atavist, meaning she possesses the rare ability to wield one of the Ancient Magics, specifically Gravity Magic. In the distant past, she served as one of the leaders of the Liberators, a group dedicated to overthrowing the gods who ruled over humanity. She is also the creator and original caretaker of the Great Reisen Labyrinth, a massive dungeon built within the Reisen Gorge. After the Liberators were defeated, Miledi transferred her own soul into a golem body, allowing her to persist across millennia and guide future generations.
On the surface, Miledi presents herself as an aloof, teasing, and often exasperating individual. She is a genius at magic and takes great pleasure in playing pranks and annoying those around her, which can make her seem immature or irritating. However, beneath this frivolous exterior lies a deeply resolute and caring nature. When the situation demands it, she can be charming, ruthless, and fiercely protective of her allies. Her long isolation has also instilled a profound sense of loneliness, and she carries an unwavering will that allowed her to endure through ages of solitude. Her primary motivation is to defy the gods and secure a future where mortals are free from their oppression.
Within the main story, Miledi appears as a supporting figure who acts as a guide and mentor to the protagonist Hajime Nagumo. She appears before him within the Reisen Labyrinth and provides him with knowledge about the Ancient Magics, which are key to his growth in power. Her golem form houses her consciousness, and she communicates with Hajime and his companions to steer them toward the eventual confrontation with the divine beings. In the spin‑off prequel series Arifureta Zero, she takes a more central role as one of the main protagonists. There, she recruits the synergist Oscar Orcus into the Liberators, and together they work toward their goal of overthrowing the gods. Her key relationships include her partnership with Oscar, as well as her bond with the other Liberators such as Meiru Melusine and Meld Loggins. In the present timeline, she interacts most frequently with Hajime, developing a dynamic that blends her teasing nature with genuine support for his mission.
Miledi does not undergo a dramatic personal transformation across the series; instead, her role is largely static as a wise but mischievous ancient power who helps the new generation succeed where her own era failed. Her most notable ability is her mastery of Gravity Magic, an Ancient Magic that allows her to manipulate gravitational forces with immense precision and power. As an Atavist, she can use this magic at a level far beyond ordinary mages. She is also highly knowledgeable about the workings of the world, ancient artifacts, and the labyrinth she built, making her an invaluable source of information. Her decision to seal her soul in a golem ensures her existence as a persistent, non‑corporeal presence that can advise and intervene from a distance.
