Description
Abandoned as an infant near Lake Michigan on May 7, 1898, Candice "Candy" White was discovered in the snow beside a doll inscribed "Candy" outside Pony's Home orphanage. She grew up within its walls, her spirited, adventurous, and deeply kind nature evident early on. She fiercely protected her best friend Annie and forged strong bonds with fellow orphans, embodying optimism, selflessness, and resilience despite her hardships.

Adopted at twelve by the Leagan family as a companion for their daughter Eliza, Candy faced mistreatment and was eventually reduced to servitude. During this difficult period, she encountered Anthony Brown, who bore a striking resemblance to the mysterious "Prince on the Hill" who comforted her at six after Annie's adoption. She also befriended brothers Alistair and Archibald Cornwell and met Albert, a reclusive man who rescued her from a near-drowning. These connections profoundly shaped her emotional world, particularly her romantic feelings for Anthony.

Following Anthony's death in a hunting accident, Candy was sent to study in London under the guardianship of "Uncle William," later revealed to be Albert. At St. Paul's College, she developed a passionate romance with Terrence "Terry" Granchester. This love ended tragically when Candy sacrificed her own happiness so Terry could care for Susanna, an actress who lost her leg saving him.

Answering a calling, Candy pursued nursing, training in Chicago during World War I. While working at a hospital, she tended to Albert, suffering from amnesia after a wartime train explosion. They lived together platonically, and he provided steadfast support through her heartbreak over Terry. Albert later disappeared, only to resurface as "Uncle William" to prevent her forced engagement to Neil Leagan. On Pony's Hill, he unveiled his dual identity as both her guardian and the original "Prince on the Hill."

Petite at 5'1", Candy possessed freckles, green eyes, and curly blonde hair often in pigtails. She excelled at lassoing, loved climbing trees, and cherished animals, especially her pet raccoon Klint. Her journey saw her evolve from a spirited tomboy into a compassionate nurse, her core traits of optimism and kindness enduring profound loss, betrayal, and hardship. Her story concluded with the resolution of her lifelong bond with Albert.
