TV Special
Description
Wolf, known elsewhere as Lupin III and the grandson of Arsène Lupin, is an internationally wanted gentleman thief. His alternate English name arose due to copyright restrictions outside Japan. He specializes in elaborate heists, utilizing exceptional skills in disguise, deduction, marksmanship (favoring a Walther P38), and gadget invention. His personality blends a fun-loving, carefree demeanor with a brilliant tactical mind capable of executing impossible thefts.

In "Bye Bye, Lady Liberty," Wolf initially retires upon learning enhanced global police databases can predict his behavior. Severe personal debt and the lure of stealing the "Super Egg," the world's largest diamond hidden within the Statue of Liberty, draw him back. He orchestrates the theft of the entire statue to locate the diamond, employing explosive homing ducks and a balloon mechanism to lift and relocate the monument.

His goals include acquiring the Super Egg, erasing his criminal records using the powerful "neovirus" computer virus, and resolving his debts. During this mission, he partners with Michael, a child prodigy and computer expert who aids in evading authorities and later helps avert a global nuclear crisis triggered by the neovirus. Wolf also encounters Isabelle Silverman, Michael's mother and a high-ranking member of the secret society Three Masons ("Conquer the Universe, Inc." in the dub). Isabelle, the neovirus creator, initially appears as an ally but is revealed as an antagonist seeking world domination.

Wolf works closely with his longtime partner Daisuke Jigen. His relationships include Inspector Zenigata, his persistent Interpol pursuer; Fujiko Mine, who is manipulated by the Three Masons; and Goemon Ishikawa XIII, who becomes emotionally involved with Isabelle. Wolf demonstrates loyalty to his team and a protective instinct toward Michael. He ultimately collaborates with Michael to deactivate the neovirus and prevent nuclear war after Isabelle's death.

The story concludes with Wolf attempting to access Isabelle's neovirus files to clear his criminal records and debts.
