Description
Daichi is a character from the Belial Gore arc, serving as one of the four elite members of Drakken Joe’s special forces unit known as the Element 4, where his designated element is earth. He is a large, muscular humanoid alien with distinctive dark blue skin, choppy dark brown hair, and unusual yellow star-shaped eyes. His attire consists of a light-colored, high-collared, sleeveless vest that displays the kanji characters for Land Mass on the back, paired with striped pants and a belt featuring a mountain symbol.

The most defining aspect of Daichi’s personality is his powerful and compulsive addiction to torturing others. This obsession is so intense that it frequently causes him to disregard direct orders, pursuing the opportunity to inflict pain even when it jeopardizes his missions. Despite this, he demonstrates a degree of self-awareness regarding his condition, having voluntarily joined a support group for his addiction. He is shown to possess a commemorative coin marking sixty consecutive days of abstaining from torture, a streak he ultimately breaks. However, his sadistic impulses are kept somewhat in check by a more dominant force: his overwhelming fear of his boss, Drakken Joe. When Laguna reminds him of the potential consequences of disobeying Drakken, Daichi becomes visibly terrified and attempts to offer a bribe to keep the matter secret. He also has a bizarre recurring habit of offering chocolate to people he encounters.

As a member of the Element 4, Daichi’s primary motivation is to satisfy his craving for inflicting suffering, often placing this desire above the strategic goals of his organization. His role in the story is that of a supporting antagonist, acting as one of the enforcers aboard Drakken Joe’s巨型 vessel, the Belial Gore. He is first seen tormenting the character Labilia and later attempts to torture Rebecca Bluegarden, stopping only when Laguna Husert intervenes to enforce Drakken’s command that she be kept alive. He is also present during a key scene where Drakken Joe destroys Weisz Steiner’s medicine and is shown laughing alongside his comrades at the misery of Shiki Granbell’s crew.

Daichi’s most significant confrontation is with Sister Ivry, one of the Four Shining Stars and a member of the Edens Zero crew. Their battle serves as the primary showcase for his development and a lesson in his own methods. During the fight, Daichi seeks to prove he is a superior torturer to Sister, who also has a history with such practices. He initially appears to have the upper hand when he uses his abilities against her, but Sister quickly turns the tables. She uses her healing powers to over-heal Daichi, causing him to burst, and then proceeds to torture him in return as a form of payback for his earlier actions. This event highlights a limitation of his power when faced with a skilled opponent and serves as a form of ironic justice for his sadism.

Daichi possesses a unique and frightening Ether Gear known as Pain’s Tree, also referred to as Pain’s Root. This ability allows him to generate branches, roots, or a tree-like structure from within a victim’s body. These growths bind the target and cause them excruciating pain, effectively incapacitating them while satisfying his sadistic urges during combat. He also has a supplementary ability to merge with solid surfaces, granting him a degree of environmental mobility and defense. Following the arrest of Drakken Joe and the subsequent disbandment of his syndicate, Daichi’s ultimate fate and whereabouts remain unknown.
