Description
Flatorte is a blue dragon who first appears as an antagonist before becoming a member of the main household in the highland. Although she has the appearance of a teenage girl, she is actually over four hundred years old, a fact that makes her the eldest member of the family, though neither she nor the others are aware of it. In her human form, she distinctively keeps her dragon tail visible, setting her apart from other dragons like Laika who hide theirs.

Originally known as the Queen of Annoyance among the Blue Dragon Clan, Flatorte was a leader of her kind and engaged in a longstanding feud with the rival Red Dragon clan. This conflict led her to attempt disrupting the wedding of Laika’s sister, an event that brought her into conflict with the immortal witch Azusa Aizawa, who was attending the ceremony with Laika. Azusa successfully repelled Flatorte, after which she agreed to a non-aggression pact under Azusa’s supervision.

A pivotal change in her circumstances occurred during a demon awards ceremony organized by the demon lord Pecora. Through Pecora’s scheme, Azusa touched Flatorte’s horn, which in blue dragon culture signifies a binding oath of total obedience to the toucher, putting her in a position of absolute submission. The result of this tradition was extreme, with Flatorte refusing to do anything as basic as drinking water without Azusa’s explicit permission. Troubled by this loss of autonomy and the extreme nature of the servitude, Azusa commanded her to live freely according to her own will. This compassionate act released Flatorte from the rigid tribal tradition. Deeply moved by Azusa’s kindness and respect for her personhood, Flatorte chose to remain by her side voluntarily, becoming a companion in the highland household rather than a servant bound by magical compulsion. She calls Azusa Master and adores her like a mother or older sister, while Azusa treats her as a younger sibling.

Her personality is bold, energetic, and highly competitive. She loves any kind of competition and is always eager to cause a ruckus, frequently initiating rivalries with the household’s red dragon, Laika. While the blue dragons are generally stereotyped as muscle-brained, Flatorte is actually intelligent, displaying moments of wisdom and thoughtfulness despite her lack of formal study. When she releases her stress and her more aggressive blue dragon tendencies fade, she reveals a quieter, gentler, and surprisingly serious side that can even startle Laika. She expresses herself with a distinctive speech pattern, often referring to herself in the third person, and can be blunt to the point of lacking subtlety, such as openly criticizing an artist’s painting as gloomy when others would remain silent. Having spent much of her life in dragon form, her sense of modesty can be inconsistent; she shows discomfort if seen naked in human form by strangers, though she carries herself with confidence otherwise.

In terms of abilities, Flatorte wields the inherent draconic power of the Blue Dragon Clan, which includes control over cold air and an ice breath capable of freezing targets instantly. She is immune to the cold but struggles with heat, which distinguishes her from her fire-using red dragon rivals. She can transform into a full-sized blue dragon and fly at incredible speeds. Beyond her combat abilities, she is highly artistic. She is a skilled lute player and singer, possessing enough talent to serve as a musical mentor to the bard Kuku. She is also proficient in visual arts, having won a children’s portrait contest with a pointillism drawing. Additionally, she is a capable cook and baker, rivaling Laika in culinary competitions, and she has an exceptionally high tolerance for alcohol, able to consume Beelzebub’s strong liquors with ease. Her background also includes a past romantic relationship with a pearl dragon, which ended due to her previous focus on pranking the red dragons.
