Description
Chiyono Kobayashi is the older sister of Shihono Kobayashi, one of the two protagonists from the real world who can communicate with characters inside the otome game "Love Me Magically". Chiyono is a young woman attending university, which places her slightly older than her high school-aged sister and the other main real-world characters. She has an appearance marked by purple eyes and shoulder-length brown hair, and is identified as an adult.
Chiyono serves as a supporting figure whose primary role is connected to the home life of the main characters. She is often absent from the Kobayashi family residence, a fact that allows Shihono and her friend Aoto Endo to use the house for their game-playing and commentary sessions during school vacations. Despite her frequent absences, Chiyono maintains a distinct presence within the household hierarchy, having set rules such as telling her sister not to come home during the daytime if she is going out.
Her curiosity and protective nature become evident when she takes an interest in the boy her sister brings to the house. Chiyono makes an effort to check on Aoto Endo, wanting to see what kind of person he is. This leads to a significant encounter at a school festival, where she meets Endo in person. However, this meeting is complicated by a misunderstanding on Endo's part, as he mistakes her identity and believes she is his classmate and crush, Shihono. This situation highlights her role in the real-world romantic subplot, acting as a catalyst for confusion and eventual clarity between the two main characters.
Chiyono's importance in the narrative extends beyond social complications, as she becomes directly involved in the supernatural conflict bridging the real world and the game world. In a critical development, she is kidnapped by the character Kuon, which serves as a major incident that entwines the fates of the real-world characters with the fantasy setting of the game. Chiyono does not possess any notable magical or special abilities, as her character is grounded in the ordinary, modern-day reality of the series. Her function is to act as an older sister figure whose presence or absence influences the story's setting and whose unexpected entanglement in the plot raises the stakes for the other real-world protagonists.
