Description
Viola Giai served as a soldier for the Martian BAHRAM military forces. Exposure to dangerous space radiation during her childhood worsened the precarious health conditions common to Martians, resulting in chronic illness. She concealed this sickness to maintain her military position. The deaths of her family and friends in conflicts with Earth's UNSF forces solidified her dedication to BAHRAM's cause, making military service her primary reason for living. Her commitment was so intense that she pleaded with BAHRAM scientists to avoid discharge when her health condition was discovered.

A significant relationship formed with fellow pilot Radium Lavans. They met when she, a homeless youth, attempted to mug him. Radium easily subdued her attempt but recognized her tenacity and encouraged her enlistment in BAHRAM, redirecting her life path. Viola developed deep loyalty and romantic feelings for Radium, though these were unreciprocated due to his relationship with Dolores Hayes.

During the 2167 Idolo events, Viola and Radium were selected as test pilots for the prototype Orbital Frame, Idolo. However, Idolo rejected Viola as a pilot, responding violently to her operation attempts and injuring her with electrical sparks, having exclusively bonded with Radium during earlier testing.

Following Radium's apparent death in the Deimos Incident, Viola fully dedicated herself to BAHRAM while actively seeking death in combat, having lost her emotional anchor and reason for living. Battle became her sole remaining purpose.

In later confrontations, she piloted the Orbital Frame Neith against Leo Stenbuck in Jehuty. She initially disengaged on commander Nohman's order but later actively sought combat with Jehuty. After being defeated yet spared, she deliberately wounded Celvice to provoke lethal retaliation. Ignoring Nohman's concerns and his offer of the superior Selkis frame, she reengaged Jehuty in the severely damaged Neith. Her rage during this battle caused Neith to mutate violently before its destruction in Jupiter's gravity. She declined rescue as the frame burned in the atmosphere.

After her death, Nohman revived her consciousness as a battle AI installed in the Orbital Frame Nephtis. This AI retained her combat skills but exhibited psychotic rage instead of her original fatalism. It repeatedly confronted Jehuty's runner, Dingo Egret, exploiting Nephtis's energy shield until defeated through tactical use of environmental objects. The AI later possessed the Ardjet frame when Nephtis was destroyed, overriding its original systems. It was permanently deleted after further combat with Jehuty.

Viola also appeared symbolically in Radium's hallucinations during later events. In one instance, he misinterpreted her presence as interference in his imagined wedding to Dolores and fatally shot the hallucination. In another, she appeared in a vision where Radium assisted Dolores with metatron energy output, smiling approvingly before his death.
