ONA
Description
Kōmori Neko is the twelfth member of the twelve apostles, a group of white demons who serve the protagonist in the Akuma-kun series. True to his name, he appears as a black cat with large, wavy bat wings and beige fur on his belly, muzzle, and the undersides of his wings. Before being recruited by Doctor Faust, he served the witch Hedora as her familiar and was forced into a contract that would inflict eternal living torment if he disobeyed, through a poison called Zombie Extract. His personality is that of an excitable and easily flattered flatterer, often using the catchphrase "Yoi sho!" when complimented. He speaks in a rough, Edo‑period dialect and tends to be boastful and impulsive, yet he possesses a genuine sense of compassion and will sympathize with those in true misfortune. Among the twelve apostles, he is one of the least powerful in terms of raw magic, but he compensates with quick wits, cunning, and the ability to fly, making him useful for reconnaissance, sabotage, and early‑game support. His role in the story is that of a comic relief character and a reliable, if sometimes unreliable, ally who often appears to help in tight spots even when his mood is sour. He maintains a light‑hearted rivalry with the other apostles, especially the bird‑maiden Nasuca, toward whom he occasionally shows a chivalrous side. Over the course of the series, he demonstrates a capacity for loyalty and growth, having transitioned from a black demon under Hedora to a dedicated member of the white demons fighting for a world where humans and demons coexist peacefully. His notable abilities include flight, bat‑like attacks, and a talent for finding shortcuts or loopholes in situations where brute force fails. He is a recurring presence across multiple adaptations, consistently serving as the apostles’ most talkative and street‑smart member.
