Miranjo is a mage originally from the Houma Kingdom, a realm known for its powerful sorcerers. She became one of the oldest and most trusted companions of King Bosse, the legendary giant warrior who founded the Bosse Kingdom. Her early life was marked by tragedy. As a child, she was kind and gentle, taking after her mother who helped others. After the neighboring Gyakuza people betrayed and killed her mother, Miranjo was captured, tortured, and disfigured by villagers who feared her as a monster. King Bosse rescued her, killed her tormentors, and had her body reconstructed from the remains of her attackers, granting her a second chance at life. From that point, she dedicated herself entirely to Bosse, following him on his adventures and becoming his most loyal ally.

Miranjo’s personality is complex and shaped by her traumatic past. She is highly intelligent, calculating, and capable of long-term manipulation. She can appear charming and helpful when it suits her goals, but she is also ruthless and willing to sacrifice others, including Bosse’s own children, to achieve what she believes is best for the man she loves. Underneath her scheming exterior, she retains a capacity for kindness and loyalty, especially toward those she considers close, such as Apeas, an ally who serves her faithfully. Her motivations revolve around her desire to live peacefully with Bosse, free from the burdens of kingship and the responsibilities that separate them. To that end, she orchestrates two attempted coups against the Bosse Kingdom, aiming to destroy it so that she and Bosse can return to a simple life.

In the story, Miranjo initially appears as a mysterious voice from a magical mirror, a gift from King Bosse to his second son, Prince Daida. She poses as a wise advisor, guiding Daida and tricking him into drinking a potion that allows King Bosse’s spirit to take over his body. This is part of her plan to resurrect Bosse and reunite with him. She is the primary antagonist who drives much of the conflict, manipulating events behind the scenes. Her role deepens as her backstory is revealed, transforming her from a simple villain into a tragic figure whose actions stem from love and trauma.

Key relationships define Miranjo’s arc. Her bond with King Bosse is the most significant. She views him as both a savior and a beloved partner, and he reciprocates her devotion, though his guilt over using his children for her schemes creates tension. With Daida, she initially manipulates him without regard for his well-being, but later, after Daida shows her kindness and protects her soul in a void, she begins to soften and develop genuine care for him. Her friendship with Apeas is one of mutual trust, and she also has a connection with a child demon who becomes her playmate and later helps trap her soul in the mirror after her death.

Miranjo undergoes notable development throughout the series. She starts as a seemingly irredeemable villain, but as her painful history is uncovered, the audience sees the vulnerable and wounded person beneath the cunning facade. By the end of the main story, she experiences remorse and begins to let go of her destructive plans, influenced by the compassion shown by Daida and Bojji. In the spin-off series Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage, her early childhood and first meeting with the demon are explored, adding further depth to her character.

Miranjo possesses notable abilities as a mage. During her life, she was an extremely powerful sorceress skilled in offensive magic, strategy, and subterfuge. After her physical death, her soul became bound to a magical mirror, allowing her to communicate telepathically, influence events from a distance, and observe the world. She can also intervene in the minds of others, as seen when she manipulates Daida. Her magical expertise extends to creating potions and spells that enable soul transfer, such as the one used to put Bosse’s spirit into Daida’s body. Despite her lack of a physical form, her cunning and knowledge make her a formidable force.
