Description
Gōshi Kaneshiro is a member of the idol unit THRIVE, which is part of the larger B-PROJECT under the Gandara Music label. Born on July 4, he is 19 years old, stands 171 centimeters tall, and has type O blood. He has short black hair parted to the left with a longer cut in the back and distinctive red snake-like eyes. Gōshi often wears black clothing and accessories such as necklaces or wristbands, and maintains a lean physique that he develops through training for his vocal performances.

Gōshi has a complex personality that is best described as tsundere, presenting a rough and often displeased exterior to the world. He frequently frowns and is known for having a temper, especially when frustrated. He openly dislikes idol activities that are not directly related to music and has a strong preference for working alone, often retreating to play his guitar. This stubborn and opinionated nature means he sometimes disregards what others think, but this behavior masks a fundamentally kind and dedicated individual with a powerful work ethic once he commits to something. His most defining trait is his deep, almost obsessive passion for music. Possessing a natural and arguably industry-best singing ability, he has an artist mindset that prioritizes musical integrity.

A key aspect of his background is that he is a returnee from the United States, where he studied abroad to learn vocalization, composing, and arranging. This upbringing has made him fluent in English and has Americanized some of his mannerisms. One of his notable abilities is his absolute pitch, which aids him in composing ad-libs and music. His specialty is playing the guitar, and his hobby is reading American comics.

Within the story, Gōshi serves as a central figure in THRIVE and has a complex web of relationships. He frequently clashes with his THRIVE teammate Yūta Ashū, finding his easygoing nature frustrating, but remains protective of him. He shares a particularly close bond with the Teramitsu twins, Haruhi and Yuduki. Known together as the Returnee Trio due to their shared overseas experiences, the trio often communicate in English with the twins often persuading Gōshi to join activities through persistent requests or promises of treats. Despite his gruff nature, he acts as a caring senpai to them, driving them places or scolding Haruhi for being untidy. His relationship with the A&R representative Tsubasa Sumisora is also significant. Initially distrustful of her abilities, he eventually comes to respect her as their shared passion for music forges a strong professional bond, leading to relaxed discussions about audio equipment. He becomes flustered when confronted with her genuine admiration or thanks. His history with Akane Fudo of KiLLER KiNG stems from their shared time in the Bambi trainee era, where Akane was initially slated for THRIVE. This has resulted in Akane harboring an inferiority complex towards Gōshi, viewing him as possessing a genius musical sense. Gōshi also disapproves of some rookie units, seeing them as arrogant and disrespectful to their label.

Gōshi undergoes gradual development throughout the series, learning to navigate group dynamics without losing his individuality. While his dedication to music remains unwavering, he learns to better tolerate collaborative efforts and comes to value the connections he has forged, particularly with Tsubasa and the Teramitsu twins. His reluctance towards the supernatural, specifically his aversion to horror themes and ghost stories, is a recurring character trait. His favorite foods are ramen and hamburgers, he dislikes sweet things, suffers from hay fever, and has a noted aversion to wearing sunscreen.
