Description
Leadfoot is an Autobot and a member of the elite Wreckers, a team of former engineers who became specialized fighters. Originally created as part of the Decepticon Rotor Force before defecting to the Autobots, he later served under Optimus Prime. In Transformers: Age of Extinction, set five years after the Battle of Chicago, Leadfoot appears only in a brief surveillance video discovered by Cade Yeager. The footage shows him being attacked and killed by agents of Cemetery Wind, a covert CIA black-ops unit hunting Autobots. Despite pleading that he is an Autobot, he is gunned down and his body is later harvested for parts by KSI. His death is discovered by the surviving Autobots, deeply affecting Hound, who salutes his fallen comrade, and prompting Optimus Prime to revoke his vow not to kill humans. Leadfoot's background includes a close friendship with Ironhide, with whom he shared a passion for building bigger and better weapons. He is known for his cool demeanor under pressure, his expertise in creating advanced weaponry, and his remarkable speed in his alternate mode, a NASCAR stock car. His role in the story is primarily that of a tragic off-screen death that underscores the hostile new world the Autobots face and serves as a catalyst for Optimus Prime's darker turn. Leadfoot’s motivations are rooted in loyalty to the Autobot cause and protecting Earth, but he is ultimately unable to escape the systematic extinction of his kind.
