TV-Series
Description
Goda Takeshi, more commonly known by his nickname Gian, is one of the main child characters in the series. He is a boy of elementary school age with a notably large and robust build, making him the tallest and strongest among his peers. He has black hair, tan skin, and is typically depicted wearing an orange shirt with a stripe, paired with dark trousers.

Gian is best known for his aggressive, selfish, and domineering personality. He acts as the neighborhood bully, frequently using his physical strength to intimidate and take what he wants from other children, most often his classmates Nobita and Suneo. His philosophy regarding ownership is famously summed up by his personal motto, What's yours is mine, and what's mine is mine. He regularly steals or borrows other children's toys, comics, and video games without any intention of returning them. Despite his brutish nature, he is not purely a villain. He has a strong sense of community as the self-appointed leader of the local children and possesses a hidden sense of justice and loyalty. He often shows unexpected courage and a willingness to help his friends when they face genuine danger, a trait that is especially prominent in the series' feature-length films. He is also fiercely protective of his younger sister, Jaiko, and shows a deep, though often unexpressed, care for her well-being.

Several key motivations drive Gian's behavior. He has an intense and unshakable confidence in his own singing voice, which is objectively terrible and physically painful for others to hear. He frequently forces his friends and neighbors to attend his long, excruciating concerts at the local vacant lot, demanding praise and applause. Similarly, he enjoys cooking, but his creations are inedible concoctions that no one dares to refuse. His love for baseball is another defining trait; he is the captain and pitcher of the local Giants team. While he is a naturally talented athlete, his team often loses due to the poor performance of members like Nobita, leading to Gian blaming and physically abusing his teammates after each defeat.

His role in the story is multifaceted. In everyday episodes, Gian is the primary antagonist and the source of many problems that drive Nobita to seek help from Doraemon. His bullying is the catalyst for many of the story's conflicts. Conversely, in the long-running theatrical films, his role shifts significantly to that of a powerful and reliable ally. In these adventures, his strength, bravery, and unwavering loyalty are crucial to the team's survival and success against larger threats.

Gian's most significant relationships are complex. With Nobita, Gian is both a tormentor and, in moments of crisis, a staunch protector, creating a dynamic of rivalry and deep-seated friendship. Suneo often acts as Gian's sycophantic sidekick, joining him in bullying others, though he is also a frequent target of Gian's aggression and theft. The only person Gian truly fears is his mother, who runs the family's neighborhood grocery store; a single scolding from her is enough to immediately deflate his bravado. His relationship with his sister, Jaiko, shows his softer side, as he genuinely encourages her dream of becoming a manga artist.

While Gian shows little lasting development in the episodic format, the character does exhibit moments of rare self-reflection. On occasions like his birthday, he has felt sadness over his lack of popularity, leading to temporary remorse and a short-lived attempt to be a better person, though he quickly reverts to his old habits. In the films, his development is more consistent and positive, showcasing his capacity for growth, empathy, and heroic self-sacrifice.

His notable abilities are primarily physical. He possesses superhuman strength for a child his age, which he uses for both bullying and protecting. He is an excellent athlete, particularly in baseball. His horrifically bad singing voice is, paradoxically, a unique ability of its own, as the sound waves it produces have been shown to have destructive effects, such as shattering glass or incapacitating enemies.
