Description
Kyouya Tachibana is a summoned otherworlder from Japan who appears in the second season of the series as a minor antagonist serving the Kingdom of Falmuth. In his original world, he practiced kendo, and after being summoned to the new world he continued to develop his swordsmanship, becoming one of the most skilled sword fighters in the western regions. Physically, he has the appearance of a Japanese teenager with very light brown hair and dark brown eyes. He typically wears a special military uniform while on duty, though he dons civilian clothes when infiltrating the Jura Tempest Federation. A notable habit is that he keeps his eyes closed whenever he is not in a serious situation. His personality is laid-back and self-assured, and he genuinely believes that he possesses one of the most powerful skills among the otherworlders. Following his summoning, he comes under the control of Falmuth and is assigned, alongside other otherworlders, to instigate a conflict against Rimuru Tempest and the Jura Tempest Federation. His overconfidence in his own abilities leads him to engage in battle with Hakurou, the elderly sword master of Tempest. Despite his considerable skill, Kyouya is defeated with relative ease and is decapitated, marking the end of his role in the story. His character arc is limited; he serves primarily as an example of an otherworlder whose pride and reliance on raw talent prove insufficient against more experienced and disciplined opponents. His key relationship is with Hakurou, who acts as his direct foil and the one to end his life, and he otherwise functions as a tool of Falmuth's military ambitions.
