Description
Albinass, the Queen, is a prominent antagonist in the story, serving as a member of Hadlar's elite Orichalcum Royal Guard. She was brought into existence by Hadlar using forbidden magic, specifically created from an orichalcum chess piece representing the Queen. True to her origin, she holds the rank of Queen within the guard, acting as its de facto leader in Hadlar's absence and standing as its most powerful member.
In terms of personality, Albinass is defined by her serious, cool-headed, and pragmatic nature. She is a strategist who values logic and efficiency, always focused on the objective and seeing the bigger picture. Her core motivation is an unwavering devotion to her master, Hadlar. While this feeling borders on love, Albinass herself denies this and frames her actions purely as a matter of loyalty to the one she considers her king. This loyalty is so absolute that she is willing to act against Hadlar's own wishes if she believes it will serve his greater good, such as planning a surprise attack during a duel to eliminate threats or attempting to single-handedly destroy the heroes to bargain for Hadlar's life with the Dark King Vearn. She has little respect for a warrior's pride or fair fights when her master's survival is at stake. She also expresses a dislike for good-hearted people, finding their altruistic nature grating or frustrating.
Albinass's role in the story is that of a formidable barrier between Hadlar and his enemies. She first appears leading the Royal Guard in a skirmish against the heroes. Later, she confronts Maam at Vearn's palace. It is here that her true desperation is revealed, as she plans to kill the disciples of Avan herself, hoping that this offering would compel the Demon King to save Hadlar from his fatal deterioration. Her key relationship is, of course, with Hadlar. She is the only one who addresses him in a manner befitting her status as queen, and her entire existence revolves around his protection and well-being. She also shares a camaraderie with her fellow guard members, having a relationship with the Pawn, Hym, that has been described as resembling that of a sister and brother.
Albinass undergoes significant development primarily through her final battle with Maam. Initially, she underestimates Maam, viewing her as an obstacle to be removed. However, as the fight progresses, Maam's resolve and kindness cause Albinass to reveal the depth of her own feelings. In the end, she acknowledges her defeat was due to her own carelessness and arrogance in looking down on her opponent. She accepts her death with a sense of regret but also calm, entrusting Maam with the duty of witnessing Hadlar's final moments.
Her notable abilities are formidable and reflect her status as the most powerful piece on the board. Her body is made of orichalcum, granting her near-immunity to most conventional attacks. She typically conceals her limbs within a heavy, cape-like dress, which is a nod to the chess rule that the queen should not be moved carelessly. Even in this restrained state, she is remarkably agile. Her primary technique is Needle Thousand, a powerful wide-range attack that disperses a high-level fire spell into thousands of needle-like projectiles. When she reveals her true combat form by releasing her limbs, her speed and power increase dramatically. In this state, she can fly and move faster than most characters can track, unleashing her ultimate attack, Thousand Ball, which consists of multiple spheres of explosive energy, each possessing devastating force. However, her incredible speed becomes a double-edged sword, as it makes her vulnerable to counterattacks where an enemy can use her own momentum against her.
