Description
Goldramon appears in the 2020 reboot series Digimon Adventure: as the Mega level evolution of Patamon, achieved through the power of the Digi-Egg of Hope. In this incarnation, Goldramon is a massive, holy dragon whose body shines with a brilliant gold color, and it possesses six hardened wings. The character is a member of the Four Great Dragons, a group of immensely powerful dragon Digimon, and wears a Holy Ring on its arm as proof of its sacred nature. A distinctive feature of Goldramon is the pair of tiny dragon Digimon sealed within the vambraces on its forearms; the one on its right arm is Amon of the Crimson Flame, who governs destruction, while the one on its left arm is Umon of the Blue Lightning, who governs regeneration.
Within the narrative of Digimon Adventure:, Goldramon emerges during a critical battle against the formidable Millenniummon. After being freed from a constraining orb that had trapped it, the champion-level MagnaAngemon is able to perform this evolution. Alongside Gatomon, who simultaneously evolves into Magnadramon, the two Mega-level Digimon combine their power to confront the immense threat. They prove strong enough to overpower Millenniummon, forcing the evil Digimon to evolve further into its even more powerful form, ZeedMillenniummon. In the final assault against ZeedMillenniummon, Goldramon and Magnadramon contribute their own power to WarGreymon's Terra Force attack, which is also charged by the hopes of all the DigiDestined and the wishes of the Digital World itself. This combined power is what ultimately succeeds in destroying ZeedMillenniummon.
The evolution into Goldramon is presented as an extraordinary feat, one that places immense strain on Patamon. The transformation and the subsequent expenditure of power leave Patamon and Gatomon completely exhausted. Following the battle, they are unable to evolve even to their champion forms to help against another threat, Burpmon. The two Digimon require several days of recovery at a hot spring before they can regain their strength and continue their journey. This event highlights Goldramon as a form of last resort, representing the peak of Patamon's power but one that comes with significant cost and is not sustainable for regular use.
In terms of abilities, Goldramon is a powerful combatant noted for its high magical power and durability. Its primary special move is God Flame, also known as Fatal Flame, in which it detonates its own holy spirit to instantly incinerate all enemies in every direction. It is also known for its God Fist, a powerful punch from one of its arms that channels its holy power to devastating effect, capable of blowing away an average Mega-level Digimon. The dragons sealed within its vambraces can also be summoned to attack, with Amon controlling flames of destruction and Umon controlling lightning of regeneration. In Digimon Adventure:, Goldramon serves as the ultimate holy warrior, a being of immense light and power called upon only in the most desperate of circumstances.
