OVA
Description
Okita Sōji is a minor character in the 1987 anime Pants no Ana: Mambo de Ganbo!, appearing only in the final segment of the single-episode OVA. He is a comedic, fictionalized version of the historical Shinsengumi swordsman Okita Sōji, transplanted into a modern high-school setting for the sake of a gag. In that segment, a group of female students holds a Kokkuri-san session, and the ritual unexpectedly summons both Okita Sōji and Bruce Lee. The two figures then face each other in a one-on-one brawl while the school's black magic and white magic clubs respond by conjuring bizarre monsters, turning the scene into a chaotic supernatural confrontation. As a figure who appears solely in this climactic sketch, Okita Sōji has no developed background, personal motivations, or character arc. He is presented as a stock version of the legendary swordsman whose function is to serve as the historical-fighter half of a comic duel with Bruce Lee, his key counterpart in the scene. His notable ability is sword fighting, and the comedy of the segment relies on the incongruity of a famous Japanese swordsman battling a martial-arts movie icon in a completely anachronistic setting. Beyond that single appearance, no further information about his personality, relationships, or role within the larger work is documented.
