Description
Grell is a fairy character who appears in the 2014 film Eiga Precure All Stars New Stage 3: Eien no Tomodachi. He attends the Fairy Academy, where fairies are trained to support the Pretty Cure warriors. Grell is a raccoon-like creature with brown fur and brown eyes. He is often seen wearing a red cape fastened with a yellow diamond-shaped badge, and he carries a brown toy sword on a blue rope at his waist.
In terms of personality, Grell is initially presented as a troublemaker who wants to prove himself a hero. He can be lazy, dislikes studying or socializing with others, and tends to think of himself as stronger than the Pretty Cure. This mischievous and boastful attitude leads him to cause problems for others, but his experiences alongside the Pretty Cure help him grow. By the time of the New Stage 3 film, he has become a kinder, friendlier, and more courageous individual who values his friends and shows a more responsible side.
Grell's primary role in the film is as a student at the Fairy Academy tasked with investigating the newly appeared HappinessCharge PreCure! team. Along with his companion EnEn, he contacts the DokiDoki! PreCure team to help arrange a meeting. When the plot shifts to a mysterious comas affecting children and the Dream World, Grell and EnEn become more deeply involved. They possess Miracle Lights, which are important tools for supporting the Pretty Cure, and their fairy guidebook becomes a key item that the antagonist Māmu steals. Notably, Grell and EnEn ultimately become the official fairy partners for the Pretty Cure warrior Cure Echo, also known as Ayumi, as they provide her with the Miracle Light that allows her to transform for the first time.
The key relationship in Grell's story is his partnership with EnEn, a fellow fairy student with whom he works closely throughout the film's events. He also develops a significant bond with the Pretty Cure, particularly the new allies he meets, and his journey shows a clear development from a reckless, self-centered fairy into a brave and helpful companion who learns the value of friendship and cooperation. Regarding notable abilities, Grell is shown to be capable of carrying objects such as his toy sword and the Miracle Light. His most important function, however, is his role as a fairy partner, which involves providing support to the Pretty Cure and enabling their transformations through the use of Miracle Lights.
