Movie
Description
Māmu is a dream fairy and the mother of Yumeta, a young dream-eating fairy. She is the primary antagonist of the film. Her background is that of a caring but overprotective parent who wants only the best for her son. Her personality is driven by a deep, misguided love: she believes that the only way to keep Yumeta from being lonely is to create a world where other children never have to leave. This leads her to trap sleeping children inside the Dream World, ensuring that Yumeta will always have playmates. When the Pretty Cures attempt to rescue the children, Māmu actively opposes them, seeing them as a threat to her son’s happiness. She steals the Pretty Cure textbook and uses its records to ensnare all the known Cures inside their own dreams, leaving only Megumi and Hime unaffected. Māmu’s role in the story is that of the main obstacle: she first separates the Cures from the Dream World, then later captures the remaining heroes who infiltrate again. Her key relationship is with her son Yumeta. Though she acts out of love, she does not listen to his feelings until the end of the film. Her development occurs when Yumeta, encouraged by the Cures, conquers his fear and shows her that trapping friends is not the right way. Māmu regains her senses and realizes her errors, but is too weakened to undo the nightmares she has created. This allows the Cures to step in and resolve the crisis with the help of the Miracle Lights and Cure Echo. Māmu’s notable abilities include entering the world of dreams, placing humans in an endless sleep, creating and controlling nightmare beasts, and using the Precure textbook as a tool to trap multiple Cures at once. She is also able to appear and disappear within the Dream World at will and can cast intrusions out of that realm. Despite her antagonistic actions, she is ultimately a mother who acted out of love and learns to let go.
