Description
Amou Shiiba, a 16-year-old orphan orphaned during the Boundary Wars, stumbles upon an abandoned AMAIM workshop and carves a path as a mechanic. His life irrevocably shifts when he bonds with Gai, an autonomous AI that guides him in constructing and piloting the humanoid weapon Kenbu. Shy yet curious, he harbors a layered personality—warm and open to exploration but capable of icy resolve or aggression under pressure.

In Season 1, he dons a yellow shirt with blue stripes, his hair styled into three short, coiled pigtails. By Season 2, his wardrobe transitions to a black t-shirt layered over red, his hairstyle unchanged. Driven to free Japan from foreign control, he allies with the resistance group Yatagarasu. The death of comrade Risa fractures his resolve, prompting a temporary retreat from combat before he reclaims his purpose.

A defining clash against the autonomous AMAIM Ghost culminates in his self-sacrifice, detonating an explosion to annihilate the foe. Presumed dead alongside Gai, he resurfaces eight months later, emotionally withdrawn and haunted by witnessing a caretaker’s murder and mercenary brutality. This phase underscores his struggle to reconcile empathy with war’s relentless cruelty.

Kenbu evolves alongside him, integrating upgrades like a heat sword, rifle, and claw shield. Though initially frustrated by vocal-command systems for weapon activation, he adapts, strategically deploying Kenbu’s full potential—such as removing limiters for heightened combat efficiency—to demonstrate tactical growth.

His bonds with resistance fighters Gashin and Shion deepen, the latter carrying subtle romantic undercurrents. Leadership emerges during pivotal operations: aiding refugees, orchestrating assaults on occupiers. Trauma from loss and violence lingers, tempering his resilience with vulnerability as he shoulders the ethical burdens of warfare.

Post-conflict, he wanders alongside a rebooted Gai, embodying a quiet dedication to reconstruction and peace. His legacy intertwines piloting prowess with symbolic resistance, a testament to personal evolution etched with the scars of battle.
