Mr. Penguin, also known as Penguin Teacher, is a supporting character in the anime Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream. He is literally a penguin who serves as a teacher at the talent agency Pretty Top. Despite his unusual appearance, he is regarded as the best instructor at the agency and was the first person to give lessons to the main characters Aira Harune and Rizumu Amamiya. He is often seen sitting on the shoulders of a staff member named Yamada, which the girls find awkward and bemusing. Mr. Penguin has a distinctive personality; he is easily irritated when Aira mistakenly refers to him as a stuffed animal, causing her to quickly correct herself mid-sentence. Throughout the series, he behaves in an eccentric manner, frequently seeking attention by trying to get his face into cameras and television broadcasts. His motivations seem tied to his role as an educator and his desire for recognition. As a teacher, he is responsible for training aspiring Prism Stars and overseeing their development. He assigns specialized coaches like Rabichi and Beachi to guide Aira and Rizumu through unusual and sometimes nonsensical training exercises. Mr. Penguin interacts closely with the main trio of Aira, Rizumu, and Mion Takamine, as well as with Yamada, who physically carries him around. A later entry in the franchise, Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live, reveals that he was once the partner of a character named June before he left her to become a teacher at Pretty Top. This backstory adds depth to his history and motivations. In the final episode of Aurora Dream, he is punished by the character Peacock and falls into a place referred to as Mascot Hell. Mr. Penguin reappears in subsequent Pretty Rhythm series, indicating his ongoing presence in the franchise. His notable ability is his expertise as a Prism Show instructor, despite being a penguin, and his capacity to train young Prism Stars effectively.
