OVA
Description
Ginyol is a major antagonist from the anime OVA series Princess Knight Catue. He holds the rank of general in the demon army and serves as the leader of the monster forces that lay siege to the kingdom of Dragundaala, a land inhabited by the descendants of dragons. His appearance is notably human-like, featuring red hair that reaches his shoulders and yellow eyes, and he is depicted with small horns.

In terms of personality, Ginyol embodies a hedonistic and sadistic nature. He operates on a philosophy of easygoing pleasure-seeking, prioritizing his own entertainment over the efficient completion of his objectives. He is characterized as a manipulative and calculating figure who delights in psychological torment and setting up elaborate, cruel scenarios for his victims. His behavior is often described as that of a "connoisseur" of a good time, suggesting he views the suffering of others as a form of amusement. This is displayed through a deceptive, almost affable demeanor that masks his truly fiendish intentions.

Ginyol's primary motivation is to carry out his mission of plunging the world into chaos under the orders of the monster king, Kruul. However, he chooses to achieve this goal in a way that maximizes his own personal enjoyment. He is not driven by a simple desire for conquest but rather by the pleasure he derives from the process of breaking individuals and corrupting their spirits. A key part of his scheme is to corrupt and transform Princess Catue, the protagonist, into a monster like himself.

Within the story, Ginyol serves as the primary instigator of the conflict. After conquering Dragundaala and capturing the king and queen using forbidden magic, he captures the returning princess, Catue. Rather than simply killing her, he presents a deceptive offer: if Princess Catue can endure his sexual acts of depravity for seven days, he will withdraw his army and free her parents. This challenge is not a genuine chance for salvation but a carefully constructed trap designed to break her will. He spends the week orchestrating a series of humiliations and betrayals, including forcing her to lose her virginity and manipulating her into unknowingly killing her own father, who had been transformed into a dragon. On the final day, he reveals his betrayal, gloats about his successful manipulations, and attempts to complete her transformation into a dragon, laughing maniacally as he condemns the princess and her kingdom to eternal suffering.

Ginyol's key relationships are defined by his role as a tormentor. His primary target is Princess Catue, whom he views as a toy for his amusement. He also captures and magically breaks Queen Nina, using her as an instrument to further torment her daughter. He is the direct superior of the army that invades Dragundaala, commanding various monsters to carry out his orders, such as forcing Jin, Catue's lover, to watch her humiliation.

Regarding his development, Ginyol remains a static character, representing an unyielding source of evil and manipulation. He does not undergo any personal change or redemption. In the context of the visual novel source material, his ultimate fate depends on the narrative path. In the golden ending, he is confronted and killed by Catue, who hacks him to pieces with her sword. However, in the anime OVA adaptation and several bad endings, he faces no comeuppance for his crimes and succeeds in his goals, leaving his victims to their horrific fates while he returns to his own realm.

Ginyol possesses several notable abilities. His primary power is the ability to use a forbidden magic known as the "Blood Revival Curse". This curse allows him to forcibly awaken the ancient memories and forms that lie dormant in a target's bloodline. He uses this power to transform the people of Dragundaala into their ancestral dragon forms. This ability is how he turns the king into a dragon and attempts to transform Catue as well. The effectiveness of the curse depends on the purity of the target's lineage; it fails to fully transform Catue due to her possessing a recessive gene for the dragon trait. Beyond this magical ability, Ginyol is also a capable combatant, as he is shown easily defeating and capturing Princess Catue, a trained dragon knight, in their initial confrontation.
