Description
Apollo Geist is a character who appears in the 2011 anniversary film OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders. He is originally a major antagonist from the 1974 television series Kamen Rider X, serving as the Chief of Security for the evil organization known as G.O.D., the Government of Darkness. His name combines Apollo, the Greek god of the sun, with the German word geist, meaning ghost or spirit. In the context of the film, he is presented as a high-ranking member of an expanded and powerful version of Shocker, the iconic evil organization from the original Kamen Rider series.

Within the film's narrative, Apollo Geist is a cyborg who typically appears in a human-like form, dressed in a white tuxedo with black gloves. When entering combat, he triggers his transformation by declaring Apollo Change, revealing his true armored form. This form is characterized by a dark suit, a red medieval-style helmet, and a flowing white cloak. He is armed with distinctive weaponry, including a large, razor-edged shield called the Geist Cutter, which he can throw as a projectile, and a shotgun-like firearm known as the Apollo Shot.

As a villain, Apollo Geist is portrayed as a ruthless and efficient operative, tasked with eliminating any member of his organization who fails or becomes a liability. Despite this cruelty, he is not without a sense of honor. He treats worthy opponents with a degree of respect, acknowledging formidable rivals as equals. His personality balances cold, calculating pragmatism with a professional dignity, viewing his battles against Kamen Riders as serious contests rather than simple executions.

In the original timeline of Kamen Rider X, Apollo Geist is destroyed in battle by the hero, Keisuke Jin, also known as Kamen Rider X. He is later revived as an even more powerful version called Revived Apollo Geist, who wields the Apollo Magnum, a combination of a three-barreled machine gun and a bayonet, and possesses the ultimate attack of transforming his entire body into a giant, self-destructive fireball. This revived form ultimately meets its end after a short, unstable lifespan.

The version of Apollo Geist seen in Let's Go Kamen Riders exists due to an altered timeline. A change in history has allowed Shocker to achieve world domination, uniting with other evil groups, including G.O.D., into a massive alliance. As a result, this Apollo Geist was never killed by Kamen Rider X. In this timeline, he also lacks the Perfecter device, a piece of equipment that his counterpart from the 2009 series Kamen Rider Decade required to sustain his life. This confirms that the character in the film is intended to be a version of the original Apollo Geist, not a duplicate from another reality. His design in the film is a modified version of the suit created for Kamen Rider Decade, but without the Perfecter component on his helmet.

When the timeline is partially restored and the Kamen Riders return to existence, Apollo Geist confronts his old nemesis, Kamen Rider X. He is defeated in this battle, but his final destruction comes later when the Great Leader of Shocker transforms into a giant rock creature, causing widespread devastation. Apollo Geist's key relationship is with Kamen Rider X, representing a long-standing rivalry that persists across different versions of history. He also holds a position within the hierarchy of the evil alliance, answering to the Great Leader alongside other villains such as King Dark.

His notable abilities include superhuman strength and durability common to high-ranking cyborgs. His primary weapons are the Geist Cutter shield, which he can use for both defense and as a powerful throwing blade, and the Apollo Shot, a potent firearm. He can also detach his own arm to use as an explosive device. In the context of the film, while he does not display the fireball transformation of his revived form from the original series, he remains a formidable physical combatant and a significant threat to the Kamen Riders. His role in the story is to serve as one of the primary lieutenants of the combined evil forces, standing as an obstacle for the heroes to overcome in the final act of the film.
