Description
High Priest Darom is a fictional character who appears as a villain in the crossover film OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders. His presence in this film stems from an alternate timeline created when a single O Medal was left behind in the year 1971. This seemingly small change in history allowed the evil organization Shocker to achieve world domination, leading to the formation of a massive alliance of monsters from across different eras. As a result, Darom, originally a high-ranking priest from the secret society Gorgom, is integrated into this new, powerful iteration of Shocker.
Within this altered reality, Darom maintains his original role as the leader of the Three High Priests of Gorgom. He answers directly to the Creation King, the ruler of his organization. In the context of this film, he acts as a representative of Gorgom within Shocker's ruling council. His physical appearance is notable for its pale, white face and ethereal quality. In his standard form, he stands at a height of 153 centimeters and weighs 36 kilograms. As a powerful psychic, he possesses several notable abilities, including the power to manipulate and control people with a gesture, fire destructive laser beams from his fingertips, and convert ordinary humans into loyal members of Gorgom.
A key aspect of Darom’s nature is his connection to a source of power known as the Stone of Heaven. When he loses the power contained within this stone, he is forced to assume his true form, known as Grand Mutant Darom. In this transformed state, he becomes a monstrous, trilobite-like creature. While his height and weight remain the same, his abilities are altered; he can discharge laser beams from his fingers with greater intensity and use the feelers on his head like powerful ropes to capture or constrict his enemies. His voice is deep and commanding, befitting his status as a high priest.
Darom's motivations are rooted in his fanatical loyalty to the Creation King and his successors. He is a calculating and experienced figure, often portrayed as the most strategic among the three high priests. His primary goal is always to serve Gorgom, expand its influence, and ensure the success of its plans, which often involve the creation of a new Century King. In the alternate timeline of Let's Go Kamen Riders, this loyalty is transferred to serving Shocker, as their domination has effectively absorbed Gorgom's original goals.
His role in the story is to serve as one of the many powerful monsters fighting for the Shocker alliance. Unlike his more prominent role in the original Kamen Rider Black series, his appearance in this film is part of an ensemble of villains. His development is minimal, as the film focuses on presenting him as an established threat from an altered history rather than exploring personal change. He is ultimately defeated by the combined forces of the Kamen Riders who work to restore the original timeline. In this film, he meets his end at the hands of Kamen Rider 1, a fitting end for a high priest of an organization that serves as a direct rival to the first Kamen Rider.
