Description
In the 2010 film Crayon Shin-chan: Super-Dimension! The Storm Called My Bride, the character known as Kazama del futur is the adult version of Tooru Kazama, Shinnosuke Nohara's friend from the present-day setting. This future iteration of Kazama exists in a dystopian version of the year 2030, a world plunged into darkness after a meteorite impact blocked out the sun. In this future, the powerful businessman Masuzo Kaneari has seized control of Japan, and Kazama has become a high-ranking executive at his corporation, Kaneari Electric.
Kazama del futur is portrayed as a successful but deeply conflicted individual. As a child, he was known for his intelligence, ambition, and desire for academic and professional success. As an adult, he has achieved those goals on paper, becoming the elite company man he always aspired to be. However, his personality has shifted to become sycophantic and compliant, willing to follow orders to maintain his position and status within the oppressive corporate structure. His desire for success has made him a yes-man, an obedient subordinate to the villainous Masuzo Kaneari.
His primary role in the film's story is that of an antagonist-turned-ally. To punish the adult Shinnosuke, who defied him, Masuzo Kaneari has him petrified into a stone statue. He then coerces his own daughter, Tamiko, into a marriage with Kazama, threatening to destroy the petrified Shinnosuke if she refuses. Kazama agrees to this arrangement, as he is promised to inherit the presidency of Kaneari Electric after Masuzo's death, a temptation he follows. He is shown leading a bride corps tasked with capturing the five-year-old Shinnosuke, who has been brought to the future to save his adult self. During the forced wedding ceremony, Kazama is confronted by the past version of his friends. When he tries to stop the young Shinnosuke from interfering, his superior, Kaneari, summarily fires him. This moment of being cast aside is a turning point, after which Kazama attempts to physically restrain Kaneari and joins the side of the protagonists.
