Description
In the Transformers film Dark of the Moon, the character known as Driver is more formally identified as Master Disaster, whose real name is Mason Divelbiss. He is an Australian mercenary who allies himself with the Decepticons. His background is that of a hardened soldier and a bully from his youth. A champion boxer in secondary school, he later attended the Royal Military College (RMC) in Australia before serving in the Special Air Service. Seeking further conflict, he joined the French Foreign Legion, and by that point in his career, he was already wanted for war crimes in both Rhodesia and Libya.

Master Disaster is defined by his exceptional driving skills, being described as a really awesome driver. His primary role in the Decepticon hierarchy is to partner with the Decepticon Drag Strip. While working together, Master Disaster takes full responsibility for all driving tasks, which allows Drag Strip to focus on other strategic objectives, such as recruiting additional human agents to the Decepticon cause. His personality is marked by a distinct lack of moral qualms; he had no hesitation when approached to work for the Decepticons. He also possesses a secondary specialty in counter-insurgency tactics and a primary specialty in covert operations, indicating a high level of military proficiency beyond just his work as a wheelman.

His motivations appear rooted in a willingness to apply his skills for his own benefit or for the sake of conflict, rather than any specific ideological allegiance. To further the Decepticon agenda, he used his expertise to form an underground racing circuit, which served as a recruitment ground to identify and evaluate other potential human agents. Beyond his partnership with Drag Strip, a key relationship is his eventual connection to Cemetery Wind. He was eventually apprehended by Sergeant Zach Deetz and the Autobot Leadfoot, leading to a two-year imprisonment in Blackwater Prison. His later development includes being recruited by Agent James Savoy of Cemetery Wind. Upon his release, he demonstrated a continued eagerness for action, volunteering to wear untested, reverse-engineered Cybertronian stealth gear created by KSI.

Notable abilities include his legendary driving prowess, which is so advanced that it allows his Cybertronian partner to ignore the task of navigation and focus on other combat or tactical duties. His physical action figure depicts him as a fully suited race car driver, and his notable transparent plastic appearance visually represents the experimental stealth technology he later volunteered to test.
