Description
The NEST team soldiers in Transformers: Dark of the Moon are members of the Non-biological Extraterrestrial Species Treaty, a classified international task force formed after the disbandment of Sector Seven. Their background stems from the need for a combined human and Autobot military alliance against Decepticon threats, operating under the command of Colonel William Lennox and including personnel from various branches of the U.S. military as well as allied nations. In terms of personality, these soldiers are highly disciplined, professional, and battle-hardened, having been trained to work alongside giant alien robots while maintaining secrecy and operational efficiency. Their primary motivation is the defense of Earth and humanity, driven by a sense of duty and loyalty to both their human leaders and their Autobot allies, with whom they have forged mutual trust through shared combat. Within the story of Dark of the Moon, the NEST soldiers play a key role in several missions: they accompany Optimus Prime and Ratchet to the Chernobyl exclusion zone to investigate alien technology, and later, after the Decepticon invasion of Chicago, they deploy via wingsuits and engage Decepticon forces on the ground. They collaborate closely with Colonel Lennox and retired NEST sergeant Robert Epps, and also work alongside Autobots like Bumblebee and Sideswipe, with their relationship being one of professional respect and camaraderie. The soldiers undergo development from operating in covert, small-scale operations to participating in a large-scale urban battle that reveals the full extent of the Cybertronian war to the public. Notable abilities include their expertise in advanced weaponry and tactics, proficiency in HALO jumps and wingsuit insertion, and their capacity to coordinate effectively with Autobot assets in high-pressure environments. They are depicted as courageous and resourceful, capable of holding their own against Decepticon soldiers despite the technological disparity.
