Description
Daiki Kaito is a mysterious young man who travels between parallel worlds as an interdimensional thief, transforming into Kamen Rider Diend using the Diendriver device. He is a secondary protagonist in the narrative, often serving as a rival and occasional ally to the main character, Tsukasa Kadoya, also known as Kamen Rider Decade.

Daiki originates from an alternate reality known as the World of Diend, where he once served as an officer under a malevolent ruler named Fourteen. In this capacity, he was tasked with hunting down Kamen Riders, whom Fourteen had deemed threats to public order. His life changed when he captured and unmasked the leader of the resistance, Kamen Rider Glaive, only to discover the Rider was his own older brother, Junichi Kaito. Upon learning that Fourteen was brainwashing citizens, including his brother, Daiki lost his self-confidence and rebelled. He stole the Diendriver from the evil organization Dai-Shocker, becoming a Kamen Rider and a fugitive, before fleeing his home world to travel the multiverse.

In terms of personality, Daiki presents a facade of being cheerful, lighthearted, and sometimes purposefully annoying to those around him, a trait that masks a more serious and calculating nature. His primary driving motivation is the acquisition of treasure, and he refers to all the valuable or powerful items he seeks as such. He views material objects as being of utmost importance and travels from world to world with the goal of stealing these treasures for himself. This makes him a morally questionable figure, as he is willing to steal from anyone, including the weak or innocent, to achieve his goals. Beneath this self-serving exterior, however, there remains a small sense of conscience and a capacity for selfless action, occasionally doing the right thing or helping others, though such behavior is unpredictable.

His role in the larger story is that of a wild card and a rival who frequently crosses paths with Tsukasa Kadoya. Unlike many secondary Riders, he is not a straightforward hero and operates largely for his own self-interest. He will ally himself with Decade and the residents of the Hikari Studio when their goals align, calling Tsukasa a comrade, but he does not hesitate to abandon them or switch sides when it suits his purpose or when he is bored. This unpredictable nature defines his interactions, as he often provides Tsukasa with vague or teasing information about his past before disappearing or causing trouble.

His key relationships are complex and few. His connection with his brother, Junichi, is a significant source of his personal conflict, and the two eventually confront each other, with neither able to truly fight the other. His most prominent relationship is with Tsukasa Kadoya, whom he appears to have known before Tsukasa lost his memories. He considers Decade a rival and a comrade, traveling alongside him and his friends for extended periods while continuing his own treasure-hunting agenda. He also maintains a connection to the Hikari Studio residents, whom he lacksadaisically accepts as friends, though he remains distant and unwilling to fully rely on them. Later, he becomes involved with the Time Jackers, an organization that grants him temporal freezing abilities, though this alliance is against his will.

Over the course of his adventures, Daiki undergoes some development. Initially driven purely by a selfish desire to amass treasures as a form of self-delusion to escape his past failures, he gradually begins to form genuine, if still imperfect, bonds with others. He returns to his home world to help defeat Fourteen and free his brother, demonstrating a desire to undo the mistakes of his past. While he never fully abandons his thieving ways, his travels with Decade temper his ruthlessness, and he occasionally acts to protect others, even if he protests that his motives remain selfish.

As Kamen Rider Diend, Daiki possesses formidable abilities. His primary equipment is the Diendriver, a gun-shaped device that serves as both his transformation tool and his main weapon. To transform, he inserts a Kamen Ride card into the driver and fires it. His fighting style is that of an expert marksman, utilizing the Diendriver to fire energy blasts that can track targets. He also wields a range of Attack Ride cards that grant him special abilities, such as turning invisible, creating illusory copies of himself, and projecting a barrier.

His signature power is the use of Kamen Ride cards to summon and control copies of other Kamen Riders to fight on his behalf. He can summon multiple Riders at once and can also use Final Form Ride cards to transform certain Riders into powerful weapons or vehicles. Like Decade, Daiki can create dimensional walls known as Aurora Curtains to travel between worlds. He also possesses a K-Touch device, which allows him to access a more powerful form called Diend Complete Form. In this form, his chest armor features images of secondary and movie-exclusive Riders, and he gains enhanced combat capabilities. In later appearances, he upgrades to the Neo Diendriver, which incorporates the powers of more recent Kamen Riders. He is also revealed to be a Singularity, making him immune to alterations in time and history, a trait that allows him to retain his memories when timelines are changed or erased.
