Description
Genta Umemori, who transforms into Shinken Gold, is a character who appears within the World of Shinkenger during the travels of Kamen Rider Decade. He is originally a sushi chef who runs a mobile food stall called Gold Zushi, having inherited it from his father, a sushi craftsman who disappeared prior to the events of his own story. Genta shares a deep and significant history as a childhood friend of Takeru Shiba, the lord of the Shiba Clan. As a child, he was determined to become a samurai despite not being from a proper samurai family, and Takeru entrusted him with the Ika Disk, which would later become crucial to his destiny. He ran away from home to train in the arts of the sword and Mojikara, the power of written characters.

In terms of personality, Genta is notably hyperactive, expressive, and loud, which stands in stark contrast to the reserved and stoic nature of his best friend, Takeru. He is cheerful, often seems to be in high spirits, and has a tendency to talk incessantly, even creating unusual rituals such as a victory clap after battles. His enthusiasm and flamboyant demeanor can sometimes be overwhelming for his more traditional comrades, but it stems from a place of deep loyalty and a generous heart. He is often kind and offers sushi to his allies freely. This personality is so energetic that he has been informally compared to a live-action cartoon character.

Genta's primary motivation is his friendship with Takeru. He made a childhood promise to help his friend become a samurai, and his entire journey to master swordsmanship and Mojikara was driven by this single vow. His dream is not solely about battle, however, as he also harbors the lifelong ambition of receiving a three-star rating from the Michelin Guide for his sushi.

Within the plot of Kamen Rider Decade, Genta appears in the storyline set in the World of Shinkenger. His role begins with him being victimized by the thief Kamen Rider Diend, who steals his precious Ika Origami. This event sends Genta into a state of ruin and desperation, as the loss severely impacts his ability to fight. He gives chase to retrieve the artifact, leading to his encounter with the main characters. After a struggle, his Ika Origami is returned thanks to the Diendriver coming into his possession, though he is later knocked out in the ensuing conflict. His appearance in this crossover serves to connect the two series, showcasing how the powers of the Shinkenger exist within Decade's multiverse.

Key relationships central to Genta's character involve his bond with Takeru Shiba, who is both his lord and his best friend; their opposite personalities create a strong dynamic. He also develops a notable rapport with Chiaki, another member of the Shinkengers, who feels comfortable around Genta due to his normal, un-samurai-like vibe and even gives him the nickname Gen-chan. In the crossover, his direct interaction is primarily with the antagonistic Kamen Rider Diend, who is the catalyst for the conflict.

While Genta does not undergo a major character arc within the brief two-episode Decade crossover, his background reveals significant development. He is portrayed as a self-made genius, having created his own Electronic Modikara and the Sushi Changer transformation device to compensate for his inability to write calligraphy like a traditional samurai. He is one of the few individuals capable of using Mojikara to create Origami, the giant mecha, and he successfully completed the Inromaru, a device that previous Shinkengers had failed to finish.

Regarding his notable abilities, as Shinken Gold, Genta is the Samurai of Light, specializing in incredibly fast sword techniques, including an iaido style where he uses both his sword, the Sakanamaru, and its sheath in tandem. His arsenal is sushi-themed and includes exploding chopsticks used as projectile weapons. He transforms using the Sushi Changer and his signature Secret Disks, such as the Sushi Disk and Ika Disk. His primary finishing attack is called the Hundred Fillets, a sequence where he rapidly cuts the enemy into multiple pieces.
