Description
In the alternate reality known as the World of Hibiki within Kamen Rider Decade, Hibiki is a seasoned master of the taiko-based Ongekido Hibiki Style. His background is defined by a tragic fall from grace; once a righteous hero, he lost his noble heart to an overwhelming desire for greater strength. This internal corruption causes his Oni power to consume him, beginning a slow metamorphosis into Gyuki, a legendary and rampaging half-Oni, half-Makamou creature.
Hibiki's personality in this world is a stark departure from the heroic ideal. He becomes lazy, rude, and detached, adopting modern, casual clothing instead of traditional attire. Rather than training the next generation, he actively tries to drive away his young pupil, Asumu, whom he affectionately refers to as Shounen, in an attempt to retire from his duties as an Oni. His primary motivation shifts from protecting others to a desperate, misguided attempt to isolate himself, seemingly to prevent his student from witnessing his downfall or walking a similar path. There is a lingering hope within him that Asumu's inherent kindness will prevent the boy from suffering the same fate. Ultimately, he hands over his Transformation Tuning Fork Onkaku to the thief Daiki Kaito, asking him to deliver it to Asumu, signaling his decision to pass on his responsibilities and his soul's license before his transformation becomes irreversible.
His role in the story is that of a former mentor turned reluctant antagonist. After being forced to assume his Oni form to protect Kuuga from a Tengu Makamou, Hibiki loses control and fully transforms into Gyuki, attacking fellow Oni like Ibuki and Zanki. He becomes a tragic figure who must be stopped by his own student. In his final moments, after being completely consumed by the Gyuki form, a spiritual vision shows him entrusting the Hibiki Henshin Onsa to Asumu, who uses it to become the new Hibiki and defeats his former master with the Mouka Dotou form as a final, requested act of mercy.
Key relationships are centered on his pupil, Asumu, and his fellow Oni. His relationship with Asumu is the emotional core of his arc, transforming from a teacher-student bond into a tragic confrontation where the student must destroy the master to save him. His interactions with other Oni like Zanki and Ibuki are hostile as his corruption progresses, leading him to wound them without control. He also has a notable relationship with Daiki Kaito, who acts as an intermediary to pass on his transformation device to Asumu.
The character's development is a tragic descent and a final act of redemption. He begins as a hero corrupted by power, but his ultimate decision to give up his Onkaku and entrust the future to Asumu allows him to die at peace, his soul passing on. His notable abilities include transforming into the Oni form Hibiki, which grants him immense physical power, including a punching force of approximately 20 tons and a running speed of 100 meters in under three seconds. He wields the Ongekibou Rekka drumsticks and the Ongekiko Kaendutsumi buckle to perform sound-based purification attacks, most notably the Ongekida Kaenrenda no Kata, a rapid fire barrage. As his corruption deepens, he involuntarily transforms into Gyuki, a monstrous form standing 270 centimeters tall, in which he becomes a mindless juggernaut driven solely by the desire to kill Makamou, attacking friends and foes alike.
