Maya is a young Pokémon trainer from the Sinnoh region who specializes in Pokémon Contests, aiming to become a Top Coordinator. In the film Pokémon: Giratina & The Sky Warrior, she is traveling alongside her friends Ash and Brock when they encounter the small Gratitude Pokémon, Shaymin. Maya quickly agrees to help guide Shaymin to the Flower Garden where it can join its kind. Throughout the journey, she proves to be resourceful, compassionate, and determined. She is not afraid to stand up for what is right, even when facing dangerous adversaries or the mysterious Reverse World. Her bond with her Pokémon, particularly her Piplup, Buneary, and Swinub, is strong, and she uses their abilities creatively to overcome obstacles. When the antagonist Zero schemes to harness Giratina’s power, Maya works with Ash and Brock to protect Shaymin and stop Zero’s plans. She shows bravery when entering the Reverse World multiple times and contributes to the final rescue by using her Pokémon to freeze Zero’s ship. Although the events of the film do not radically change her personality, they reinforce her caring nature and her belief in the power of gratitude and friendship.
