Mitsuhide operates as a central antagonist, first appearing as a general loyal to Oda Nobunaga. His betrayal during the Honnō-ji Incident forces Nobunaga into ritual suicide, compelling Yasuke to serve as kaishakunin and complete the act.
After the incident, Mitsuhide allies with the demonic warlord Yami no Daimyō. He evolves into the "Dark General," wielding supernatural powers and commanding an army fused with dark magic and advanced technology—including power armor mechs. This pact corrupts his physical form visibly.
His motivations stem from resentment toward Nobunaga’s acceptance of foreign influences, particularly Yasuke, an African retainer. Mitsuhide condemns Yasuke’s status, declaring Nobunaga "turned against his people" by sheltering him. This ideological rift drives his quest for power under the Daimyō.
Two decades post-betrayal, Mitsuhide spearheads the Dark Army’s hunt for Saki, a girl whose potent magic the Daimyō covets for rejuvenation. Confronting Yasuke, he admits regret for sparing his life earlier and scorns traditional combat as obsolete. In their final clash, Saki shatters the Daimyō’s hold over Mitsuhide, crippling him. Yasuke severs his head in victory, rejecting Mitsuhide’s claim of enduring servitude.
