Yami no Daimyō, also known as Masako Hojo and the Dark Lord, is an ancient, power-hungry entity who has lived for centuries. Driven by a desperate fear of death, she sustains herself by absorbing life forces and magical energies, heedless of the human cost. She seized control of Japan after orchestrating the attack on Honno-ji Temple, defeating Oda Nobunaga and initiating a reign lasting over 20 years. She physically appears as an elderly woman with dark skin, long white hair, and a thin, elongated frame. Typically bound within a self-created web inside Azuchi Castle, this web functions as both her prison and an extension of her consciousness, allowing her telepathic control over its strands to sense her surroundings and transport herself within the castle. Her merging with the castle enabled her to "feast on the land" for power but ultimately trapped her there. Her primary abilities include transformation into a giant six-legged monster wielding overwhelming physical strength, projection of purple-hued energy blasts, and weather manipulation manifesting as massive storm clouds over her territory. She also wields astral projection to traverse the Astral Plane, employing void creation, telepathic communication, pain inducement, and magic leeching. She bestows enhanced abilities—such as superhuman strength or energy-infused weapons—to subordinates like Kurosaka and Mitsuhide, later reclaiming these gifts and causing rapid aging or death. She demonstrates illusion-casting by manipulating Yasuke into hallucinating Nobunaga and attacking Saki. Her central narrative involves sensing Saki as a magical counterbalance to her power. Viewing Saki as both a threat and a source of rejuvenation, she dispatches enhanced agents to capture the child. She uses Mitsuhide as a conduit to infiltrate Saki’s mind via the Astral Plane, attempting to absorb her powers. When Saki resists with guidance from Morisuke, Yami no Daimyō escalates her efforts, transforming Mitsuhide into the Dark General and deploying armies to eliminate resistance. In the final confrontation, she directly assaults Yasuke and Saki at Azuchi Castle, employing illusions and her monstrous form. After killing Yasuke and beginning to absorb Saki, she is overwhelmed when Saki awakens her full power. Defeated and weakened, she taunts Saki about the corrupting nature of power before Yasuke spares her life, leaving her fate to the people.
