Lailah is an archangel and the mother of Emilia Justina. She is a figure of great age and power, having lived for centuries in the world of Ente Isla. Her most defining early act occurs three hundred years before the main story, when she rescues a young demon named Satan from the brink of death after his tribe is destroyed. Moved by seeing a demon cry for the first time, she nurses him back to health and imparts to him a great deal of knowledge. Before departing, she gives him a purple crescent-shaped crystal, which is later revealed to be a fragment of the Sephirot known as Yesod. Satan plants this crystal in his castle garden, where it grows into a tree, unknowingly carrying Lailah’s influence into his future as the Demon Lord.
