Description
Machiko Mai, known to her students as Machiko sensei, is the central character of Maicching Machiko-sensei. She is a young, recently graduated woman who begins her career as a teacher at Arama Academy, a private middle school with a free-spirited atmosphere. Her full name is Mai Machiko, created by the author from the English phrase "My Machiko." In appearance, she is often described as beautiful and athletic, with a reported bust-waist-hip measurement of 94 centimeters, 54 centimeters, and 90 centimeters. She wears a short, revealing bubblegum pink skirt as part of her everyday outfit.

In terms of personality, Machiko is cheerful, kind, and deeply patient. She is somewhat naive and impulsive, often lacking in common sense, which contributes to the chaotic situations she finds herself in. Despite the constant pranks played on her by her students, she never responds with anger. Instead, she laughs off these incidents and reacts with her trademark exclamation, "Maicchingu!", a phrase meaning "how embarrassing." She understands that the boys' mischief stems from their affection for her, and she accepts it with good humor.

Her primary motivation is the well-being of her students. She is committed to helping them with their problems, both academic and personal, and she approaches her role as a teacher with genuine care and dedication. Even when her dignity is compromised by embarrassing situations, she prioritizes her students' needs and continues to support them.

As the protagonist, Machiko is the center of the story's comedic and ecchi elements. Her role is to navigate the daily challenges of teaching while enduring a constant stream of pranks, typically involving her skirt being lifted or traps being set to catch her in revealing states. The series follows her interactions with her students and fellow faculty members, with each episode typically ending with her being placed in a humiliating yet lighthearted situation.

Her key relationships revolve around her students, particularly the boys Kenta Ikegami and Tamao Kameyama, who are the primary instigators of the pranks. She also interacts with other students like Kinzo Abashiri and female students such as Madoka Nagasaki and Tenko Yokohama. Among the faculty, she has a colleague named Yamagata-sensei, a short-statured social studies teacher who is infatuated with her, as well as the elderly Principal Kokedaruma, who harbors a mild interest in her. The Vice Principal, Aichi, often attempts to enforce discipline but is usually unsuccessful.

Character development over the course of the series is limited; Machiko largely remains a static figure who consistently embodies kindness, patience, and a forgiving nature. She does not undergo major personal transformations but rather serves as a constant, gentle presence amid the chaotic school environment.

In terms of notable abilities, Machiko excels in many sports, demonstrating a high level of physical fitness and athletic talent. She is often shown participating in various physical activities with skill and energy. Her signature ability, however, is her remarkable tolerance and her capacity to turn embarrassing moments into comedic ones with her characteristic catchphrase. She has a personal preference for curry udon, which she claims she could eat every day without tiring of it, and a strong aversion to cod roe, which causes her to break out in hives.
