Potpourri is a fairy born from the Heart Tree who appears partway through the anime Heartcatch Precure! and becomes the partner of Myoudouin Itsuki, the Pretty Cure known as Cure Sunshine. Of all the fairies connected to the Heart Tree, Potpourri stands out because it is born during the story itself, making it the youngest of the group and the only Heart Tree fairy whose birth is clearly shown in the series.

In appearance, Potpourri resembles the other Heart Tree fairies, Chypre and Coffret, but is colored yellow and white rather than green and white. It has a small white body, drooping ears, dark brown eyes, and orange heart-shaped markings on its ears and tail that match its hair. It wears ear ornaments shaped like golden wings, and it dresses in a yellow cape and carries a pink pouch. Like the other fairies, it can fly and usually pretends to be a stuffed toy in front of people who do not know about the Pretty Cure.

Potpourri's pouch holds an orange Heart Seed, which serves as the key to the Pretty Cure Palace, the sacred place where the Precure undergo trials to obtain greater power. This gives Potpourri an important role as a guardian of access to that site. Its main combat ability is the creation of a strong barrier that can protect its friends from enemy attacks. It also assists Itsuki's transformation and supports the Precure during battles, acting as both a companion and a helper in the fight against the Desert Apostles.

In personality, Potpourri is still very much a baby. It speaks in a childish manner and uses affectionate baby talk when addressing Itsuki. It is wise and calm for its age, but it can also be rash, stubborn, and a bit spoiled when it does not get what it wants. Despite its young nature, Potpourri has a strong desire to protect the Pretty Cure and cares deeply about both Itsuki and the Heart Tree. These feelings guide most of its actions, motivating it to stay close to its partner and to place itself in danger when needed.

Potpourri's story role begins when it is born from the Heart Tree and goes out to find a suitable person to become a new Pretty Cure. It eventually chooses Itsuki as the true candidate, and Itsuki becomes Cure Sunshine through their partnership. This happens at a time when Itsuki has been hiding her own feelings and trying to remain strong for her sickly older brother, and Potpourri's arrival helps bring her into the team of Precure. The bond between Potpourri and Itsuki is the character's central relationship, and the two grow very close as partners, with Potpourri remaining devoted to her throughout the series.

Potpourri also has a place among the other Heart Tree fairies, acting as the youngest member and something like a younger sibling to Chypre and Coffret. It is notable that Potpourri is the only fairy of its season whose name does not begin with the letter C, and because it was born after the death of Cologne, the fairy partner of Cure Moonlight, it never meets Cologne in person. After the final battle against the Desert Apostles, Potpourri continues to live with the main characters and appears alongside them in later crossover films.
