Description
Kiichiro Osoreda is a supporting character from the Death Note series, serving as an unwitting pawn in one of Light Yagami's early experiments with the Death Note. He is portrayed as a short, middle-aged man with a thin, unkempt appearance that reflects his life of crime and long-term substance abuse.

Osoreda's background is that of a violent criminal and a drug addict. His actions leading up to his appearance in the story are marked by extreme desperation and brutality. On December 18, 2003, he attempted to rob a bank in Tokyo. When the robbery failed, he shot and killed three innocent bystanders while making his escape. This crime made him a wanted fugitive and caught the attention of Light Yagami, who saw an opportunity to use Osoreda for his own purposes.

In terms of personality, Osoreda is defined by his impulsive, aggressive, and volatile nature. His judgment is severely impaired by his drug addiction, which makes him highly unpredictable and prone to panic when faced with unexpected situations. He acts without regard for consequences or the lives of innocent people, demonstrating a complete lack of empathy for his victims. Despite his violent demeanor, he is not particularly intelligent or strategic, which makes him easy for someone like Light to manipulate.

Osoreda's primary role in the story is as a tool used by Light Yagami. On December 20, 2003, while still a fugitive, Osoreda boarded a city bus and hijacked it at gunpoint. He threatened the driver, Sasaki, and the passengers, demanding a ransom of cash from the Space Land amusement park. However, every aspect of this hijacking had been pre-written by Light in the Death Note. Light's true goal was not the ransom but to identify the real name of the FBI agent, Raye Penber, who was following him and happened to be on the same bus.

The plan hinged on Osoreda's involvement. As dictated by the Death Note's instructions, Osoreda picked up a piece of the notebook that Light had deliberately dropped. By touching this fragment, Osoreda gained the ability to see the Shinigami Ryuk, who was sitting in the back of the bus. The sudden appearance of the terrifying, otherworldly creature threw Osoreda into a state of absolute panic. He fired his gun wildly at Ryuk, but all the bullets passed harmlessly through the Shinigami. Once his ammunition was spent, he became desperate to escape and fled from the bus, running directly into the path of an oncoming car. He was hit and killed instantly.

Osoreda's death was officially ruled as a drug-induced psychotic episode and a tragic accident, drawing no suspicion from the police or media that it was connected to the Kira killings. Only the former FBI agent Naomi Misora suspected a possible link. This outcome highlights Light's cunning and cold-hearted nature, using a human being as nothing more than a disposable component in a larger scheme.

Osoreda has no significant personal relationships with the main characters; his interactions are purely functional. His most notable connections are with his unwilling victims, including the bus driver Sasaki, the passengers, and the innocent driver of the car that struck him, all of whom suffer severe trauma and legal consequences as a result of his actions. While his actions are undeniably those of a ruthless criminal, his story is also one of tragic manipulation, as he was a desperate individual whose fate was sealed the moment Light Yagami wrote his name in the Death Note. His main abilities are limited to his proficiency with a firearm and his willingness to use violence, though he is notably lacking in any strategic intelligence.
