Description
Iori Izumi is a young man who, upon becoming an Oni, abandons his human name and is known solely as Kamen Rider Ibuki. He is a 21-year-old member of the head family that runs the Takeshi organization from Yoshino, which dedicates itself to fighting monstrous beings known as Makamou. As a member of this family, his life has always revolved around this duty, a reality he accepts without issue. His wish to protect others aligns with his sense of responsibility, as he believes failing to uphold his legacy would bring shame to his family and be an act of selfishness. Within the story, Ibuki is the youngest of the main Oni trio and the second Kamen Rider to appear. He often fights with the aid of his apprentice, Akira, and joins forces with the other lead Oni, Hibiki and Todoroki, when the situation demands it.

In terms of personality, Ibuki is generally calm and friendly, often talking happily with others and sometimes displaying an innocent or slightly quirky nature, such as misidentifying someone as Hibiki’s student or making strange jokes. He is a confident Oni, though his confidence stems from a belief that no one in his head family can be defeated, which contrasts with the different source of Hibiki’s confidence. He is serious about his work and is always interested in his duties, even while spending time on outings. Born into his position, he never complains about his job, though he is under constant pressure because important and dangerous missions are automatically assigned to him. This pressure affects his morale, leading to fears about failing or dying, yet he never runs away and always strives to face difficulties as he understands this is his responsibility.

Key relationships define much of his personal journey. His disciple, Akira Amami, is a central figure in his life; he instructs, trusts, and gives her advice, feeling proud when she passes her training. However, his inability to fully understand her deep trauma over her parents' death creates a rift. After the Shuki incident, Akira leaves him, which forces Ibuki to feel small and disappointed in himself, questioning his own qualifications as a teacher. He ultimately realizes she must find her own answer about being an Oni. His relationship with Kasumi Tachibana also evolves significantly. As a childhood friend for whom he has affection, he often seeks her advice and company. After the Shuki incident, he feels alone and seeks comfort in her, and his feelings grow into a confession before the Orochi sealing, where he tells her he wishes to live as long as he can be with her.

Ibuki undergoes substantial development over the course of the story, becoming one of the main Oni who experiences the most changes. He begins as a calm and relatively carefree soul, but during the latter half of the series, he becomes troubled by matters of life and death. Following the death of the elder Oni Zanki, he begins to fear death itself. This fear starts to interfere with his duties and his everyday life, making him fully realize just how scared he is. The departure of his disciple Akira also serves as a humbling moment, as he realizes he is not as strong or as wise as he originally thought.

As Kamen Rider Ibuki, his Oni form is characterized by a blue color scheme. He transforms using a whistle-like device called the Henshin Onibue Onteki, which generates a whirlwind that changes his body. Unlike many Kamen Riders, this is not a suit but his true demon form, and despite being from the head family, he has no secondary form. His primary weapon is the Ongekikan Reppu, a trumpet-like gun that normally fires special bullets. For his finisher, known as Ongeki Sha: Shippū Issen, he attaches a horn to the weapon and uses the power of sound and wind to create a large wave that destroys the target. He also possesses fighting techniques such as Kitōjutsu Senpūjin, which adds wind power to his physical strikes, and Kitōjutsu Onizume, which forms nearly unbreakable claws on his hands for slashing. His physical capabilities in this form include a punching power of 15 tons, a kicking power of 30 tons, a maximum jump height of 80 meters, and the ability to run 100 meters in 2.5 seconds. He also employs various Disk Animals, which are shikigami that transform into animal forms like hawks and wolves, to assist him in reconnaissance, combat, and recording sound data.
