Description
Kotomi Kanda is a student at Seisen Academy who appears in Yo-Yo Girl Cop as a close friend of Tae Konno and a central figure in the chain of events that drive the investigation. She and Tae once collaborated on an anti-bullying website, seeking to support their fellow students and combat the mistreatment they experienced. The persistent harassment pushed Kotomi past her breaking point, and she attempted a suicide bombing that left her in a catatonic state, confined to a hospital bed. In the aftermath, the anti-bullying site was overtaken and replaced by the Enola Gay platform, which began rallying juvenile suicide bombers across the country. While hospitalized, Kotomi is visited by Saki Asamiya and Tae. During that visit, she manages to utter the name of Jirou Kimura, the school janitor, a revelation that unveils him as the manipulator known as Romeo. It is later revealed that Kotomi fell in love with Kimura, who exploited her emotional vulnerability and compelled her to carry out the bombing attempt. She remains largely incapacitated until the film’s conclusion, when she appears alongside Tae to bid farewell to Saki, suggesting the start of a slow recovery. Through her fragile state and the misuse of her trust, Kotomi embodies the corrosive impact of bullying and emotional manipulation, while her fragment of recognition provides the clue that breaks the case open.
