Description
The individual known as the Enola Gay member is not a single character but rather a reference to the collective involved with the underground website named Enola Gay, which serves as the central antagonistic force in the story. The group is comprised of various individuals, each playing a distinct role in the conspiracy that drives the plot.

The mastermind behind the Enola Gay website is a young man named Jiro Kimura, who operates under the alias Romeo. By day, he works as a seemingly unassuming janitor at Seisen Academy, which allows him to move unnoticed through the school. His background reveals him to be a charismatic and deeply manipulative figure who targets disaffected and bullied teenagers. He provides them with instructions for constructing bombs and encourages them to carry out suicide attacks, driven by his own nihilistic ideology and personal amusement rather than any clear political goal. He is completely indifferent to the loss of life, viewing his recruits as disposable tools for his entertainment.

Romeo is closely supported by Reika Akiyama, the dominant and ruthless leader of a clique at Seisen Academy. Reika is not merely a school bully but also Romeo’s lover and a formidable fighter. Her background includes being a former Tokumei Keiji operative, meaning she has prior training and experience in covert operations. This makes her a much more dangerous adversary than a typical gang leader. She uses her influence within the school to spread Romeo’s ideology and maintain control over the student body, creating an environment where vulnerable students can be easily targeted for recruitment by the Enola Gay website.

Beyond the leaders, the membership of Enola Gay also includes the troubled students who are drawn to the website. Characters like Kotomi Kanda and another student named Higashiyama are examples of these recruits. Kotomi is a bullied girl who, after a traumatic experience, becomes involved with the site and later provides a crucial clue to its operator's identity. Higashiyama is another student who is captured after being targeted for a bombing plot. These individuals are not willing conspirators in the traditional sense but are victims of manipulation, portrayed as tragic figures whose pain is exploited by Romeo for his destructive purposes.

The motivations of the Enola Gay members vary significantly by their position in the hierarchy. Romeo is motivated by a twisted desire for control and amusement, finding entertainment in watching the chaos and suffering he engineers. Reika is driven by a combination of loyalty to Romeo and her own enjoyment of power, using her combat skills and the school's social hierarchy to enforce their will. The recruited students, however, are motivated by despair and a sense of alienation, having been convinced by the website that they have no worth in society and that a bombing attack is a meaningful act of revenge or escape.

In the story, the Enola Gay group serves as the primary obstacle for the protagonist, Saki Asamiya. Their actions frame the entire narrative, as Saki is given a 72-hour deadline to stop their plot when a mysterious countdown appears on the website. The group is responsible for a series of bombings across Tokyo that Saki must prevent, and their targeting of her friend, a bullied student named Tae Konno, raises the personal stakes of the mission. Key relationships within the group include the romantic and strategic partnership between Romeo and Reika, as well as the exploitative dynamic between the leaders and the vulnerable teenagers they recruit as suicide bombers.

The named leaders, particularly Romeo and Reika, do not undergo any positive development or redemption. They remain steadfast in their antagonistic roles. Reika, in particular, is revealed to be a skilled combatant who wields a custom yo-yo equipped with blades, making her a dark mirror of the protagonist. This notable ability, combined with her strategic mind and combat training, allows her to challenge Saki directly in a one-on-one duel. Romeo’s notable abilities lie in psychological manipulation, allowing him to control others without needing to physically fight them, though he is eventually confronted directly by Saki.
