Description
Misuzu Jinkama is a supporting character in the television drama Densha Otoko, which is based on a real online story. She works as a client at the company where the protagonist Tsuyoshi Yamada is employed, and she frequently takes advantage of her position to order him around and treat him poorly. Jinkama is in her mid-twenties and possesses a sharp, confident, and often cruel personality. She enjoys manipulating men and using them for her own material or emotional benefit, earning a reputation as a heartbreaker. Her interactions with Yamada are marked by constant verbal abuse, exploitation, and a sense of superiority, often accompanied by a signature ringtone of Darth Vader’s theme to underscore her menacing presence. Despite her harsh exterior, Jinkama is not a one-dimensional villain. She is perceptive about human relationships and, at key moments, offers blunt but useful advice to Yamada regarding his pursuit of Saori Aoyama. She also plays a pivotal role in convincing Saori to give Yamada a second chance after a misunderstanding, revealing that beneath her selfishness lies a capacity for genuine, if grudging, kindness. Over the course of the story, Jinkama undergoes subtle development. She shows a rare vulnerable side when she learns that Yamada is having a particularly bad day on his birthday, and later she enters a romantic relationship with Kazuya Sakurai, one of Saori’s admirers. That relationship ultimately falls apart in the special episode due to Sakurai’s financial troubles, but it demonstrates that Jinkama is capable of seeking a real connection rather than just using people. Her notable abilities include a talent for psychological manipulation, a sharp tongue, and an unshakable self-assurance that makes her both a formidable antagonist and an unexpectedly effective ally. She stands out as a memorable character whose abrasive personality and gradual, if limited, growth add depth to the comedic and romantic dynamics of the series.
