Description
Chūbō Sonken is a character introduced in the sequel series *Shin Ikkitousen*. She is a young girl with brown hair often styled in twintails and brown eyes. The biological sister of Hakufu Sonsaku, sharing the same father, she becomes a student at Nanyo Academy.
Her magatama contains the spirit of Sun Quan, the second emperor of Wu, who succeeded his brother Sun Ce. This soul manifests as a water dragon, reflecting the elemental affinity of the Sun lineage.
Chūbō Sonken first arrives as a transfer student at Nanyo Academy without a magatama. Ukitsu provides her with Sun Quan’s magatama, entrusting it to her. On her first day, she is targeted by bullies but is taken under the protection of Roshuku Shikei. Soon after receiving her magatama and the Hyakuhekitou sword, the school is attacked by Kansai fighters Asaemon Yamada and Indara. Shikei is severely injured and Ukitsu is defeated trying to defend her. Forced to flee with Asaemon in pursuit, she is cornered and nearly surrenders before Shiryuu Chou-un arrives to save her. After both Chou-un and Ukitsu fall, she loses control of her dragon spirit, unleashing a powerful outburst that overwhelms the attackers. The situation is contained by the arrival of powerful figures from other schools. Hakufu Sonsaku later appears, discovers their familial relation, and ensures her safety.
In the anime series *Great Guardians*, a character using the same name is later revealed to be Shōkyō (Xiao Qiao), who traveled to Kanto under the false identity of Hakufu’s sister. Her true motive was to meet Koukin Shuuyu, the reincarnation of Zhou Yu, to whom she is destined to be married. Gentle, kind, and non-combative, she is well-read in the *Romance of the Three Kingdoms*. After living with Hakufu and Koukin, she confesses her true identity and departs with Genpou Saji.
She also appears in the *Western Wolves* OVA, assisting Hakufu in a battle against other fighters. During the encounter, she mentions being a fighter but not having her magatama with her. After the fight, she leaves without revealing her identity to Hakufu.
