Description
DJ Gappa is a character who appears exclusively in the sixth One Piece film. He is a member of the Red Arrows Pirates, the crew serving under the film's main antagonist, Baron Omatsuri.

In terms of appearance, DJ Gappa is short in stature with shaggy green hair and a face that resembles a turtle. He has a turtle shell on his back and webbed hands. He wears a yellow shirt with a white collar, a chain necklace featuring a grey skull pendant, black headphones, and a white hat. Like all members of his crew on the island, a small plant grows from his head.

DJ Gappa has a cheerful and carefree personality, often asking people to give him their belongings without a second thought. He is also prone to throwing childish tantrums when things do not go his way. A notable quirk is his habit of adding the sound pu to the end of his sentences. He is extremely sensitive about this speech pattern and becomes angry if he suspects anyone is mocking him for it. Despite his seemingly lighthearted demeanor, he is utterly loyal to Baron Omatsuri and follows his captain's orders without question.

Within the story of the film, DJ Gappa serves as a significant obstacle for the Straw Hat Pirates. He first encounters Usopp, whom he quickly overpowers. Enraged when Usopp refuses to hand over his cap and then comments on his speech, DJ Gappa steals the hat and turns Usopp over to Baron Omatsuri. Later, he acts as the conductor of a shooting contest against the Straw Hats. Using his unique abilities, he successfully defeats both Nami and Sanji. He later confronts Roronoa Zoro, who attacks him with a powerful slash. To Zoro's surprise, DJ Gappa survives the attack completely unscathed, a feat that hints at his unnatural nature. Only after further events does his body finally shrivel up and collapse.

His key relationships are primarily with his crewmates. He holds Baron Omatsuri in the highest regard and completely trusts his captain's judgment. Omatsuri, in turn, encourages this loyalty by falsely telling DJ Gappa that he survived Zoro's attack due to his own strength. He also has a briefly hostile relationship with Usopp, whom he targets specifically for his perceived disrespect, and a competitive one with Zoro, whom he mistakenly comes to believe he is stronger than.

Regarding development, the narrative reveals that DJ Gappa and the rest of the Red Arrows Pirates (except Omatsuri) died in a terrible storm many years ago while sailing on the Grand Line. Baron Omatsuri, arriving alone on the film's island, made a pact with a monstrous plant called the Lily Carnation, which revived his crew as plant-based beings. They have since been luring other pirates to the island to be broken up and fed to the plant. After the Lily Carnation is destroyed, DJ Gappa and the others revert back to simple plants. In a final vision after Baron Omatsuri is defeated, DJ Gappa appears in the afterlife and thanks his captain for remembering his original crew.

In terms of notable abilities, DJ Gappa is a highly proficient combatant. His primary weapon consists of special plates he peels off his own scalp. He can throw these plates as projectiles; they are capable of homing in on targets, hovering in mid-air, and creating powerful explosions upon impact. He can also rub these plates to produce scratching sounds, which is the source of his DJ moniker. He is agile and has an impressive vertical jump. He can also use the shell on his back as a makeshift skateboard to increase his speed and mobility in combat. His most unnerving ability is his extreme endurance, demonstrated by surviving a lethal attack from Zoro without any visible injury. This invulnerability is not a natural power, but rather a result of his already deceased body being sustained by the Lily Carnation's magic.
